Thats not true. You couldve been interned. and I'm not talking about some nine year old. This guy was 17. Dont you think you couldve made a choice when you were 17? And the Pope before him, turned in fellow Poles. Believe me, there's nothing I'd rather do than to disagree with Aryan, uh I mean Aidian. But he's got this one right.
Yeah. If my memory of what I've read serves me correctly, I think the whole plot to kidnap the pope only came about when he eventually went back on his deal with the nazis. That doesn't make catholics evil though.
He certainly could have shown more character, yet they did not know what was happening to the Jews at that time.
the rc church has enough real bad stuff in its history (look at my link above). It serves no purpose to make up other stuff.
OK the Pope was born in 1927 so by the time the nazi's came to power in 1933 was 6 years old he was educated like every other German child within the German state school system, he would have been automaticly expected to join the HJ this does not make him a Nazi, Bormans son is a preacher these days did you know that? Have you any idea of just how many Catholic priests were tortuerd & sent to the Death camps by the Nazi's for been outspoken opponents of the regiem? The Germans had no need to smuggle anything to Mussolinie's Regiem they borderd each other. Yes certain church men did help fleeing Nazi's to escape justice but there again so did the American, British, & French Goverments. The main priest involved had very close links to the Ustachi in Croatia, it was called the Ratline. As for John Paul selling out fellow Poles this is the 1st I have ever heard of this have you any proof? Now on to the Vatican & its concordat with Hitler The Reichskonkordat was ratified on 10 September 1933. In the Concordat, the German government achieved a complete proscription of all clerical interference in the political field (articles 16 and 32). It also ensured the bishops' loyalty to the state by an oath and required all priests to be Germans and subject to German superiors. Restrictions were also placed on the Catholic organisations. Shortly before signing the Reichskonkordat, Germany signed similar agreements with the major Protestant churches in Germany. Terms and violations The main points of the concordat are The right to freedom of the Roman Catholic religion. (Article 1) The state concordats with Bavaria (1924), Prussia (1929), and Baden (1932) remain valid. (Article 2) Unhindered correspondence between the Holy See and German Catholics. (Article 4) The right of the church to collect church taxes. (Article 13) The oath of allegiance of the bishops: "(...) Ich schwöre und verspreche, die verfassungsmässig gebildete Regierung zu achten und von meinem Klerus achten zu lassen (...)" ("I swear and vow to honor the constitutional government and to make my clergy honor it") (Article 16) State services to the church can be abolished only in mutual agreement. (Article 18) Catholic religion is taught in school (article 21) and teachers for Catholic religion can be employed only with the approval of the bishop (article 22). Protection of Catholic organizations and freedom of religious practice. (Article 31) Clerics may not be members of or be active for political parties. (Article 32) A secret annex relieved clerics from military duty in the case that mandatory military service should be reinstated. (Germany was not allowed to have mandatory military service by the Treaty of Versailles). When the Nazi government violated the concordat (in particular article 31), bishops and the papacy protested against these violations. Protests culminated in the papal encyclical "Mit brennender Sorge" ("With Burning Concern") of 1937 of Pope Pius XI. So please not just the Catholic Church. Not only did the Church know about the camps but so did the Allies now which had the greater power to do something about them, the Church or the Allied Goverments? Perhaps you should read what the following people thought of him before passing judgment Rabbi David G. Dalin Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog of Israel Ministers Golda Meir Moshe Sharett, Chaim Weizmann Dalin reckoned that he saved more Jews than Shindler did !
May 04, 2007 (just over a month old, but shows democratic liberals for what they are) Liberal Democrats: You People In Your Cars Are the Real Terrorists That's what the liberal Democrats are telling us with their bill to divert funding from monitoring terrorist phone calls and communications instead into the coffers of the Church of Algore's Evangelical Environmentalism. The House next week will consider the Democrat-crafted Intelligence Authorization bill, which includes a provision directing an assessment of the effects that climate change has on national security. "Our job is to steal secrets," said Rep. Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, the ranking Republican on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. "There are all kinds of people analyzing global warming, the Democrats even have a special committee on this," he told The Washington Times. "There's no value added by the intelligence community here; they have no special expertise, and this takes money and resources away from other threats." That's right. The real threat to our security isn't militant Islamic cockroaches who lie in wait in the woodwork for the perfect inopportune moment to kill thousands of innocents in the most horrible ways imaginable. No - the real threat is GLOBAL WARMING. The same global warming that killed 3,000 Americans on 9-11. Only now, with Democrats in Congress, it is MORE urgent and deadly than EVUH. You people in the SUVs? Worse than Zarqawi. Still using regular light bulbs? Prepare for the Democrats to change that, fascists. Carbon footprint too large for Algore's liking? Buy "offset indulgences" or face the hand of justice. No, my fellow Americans. We're not important enough to protect from terrorism. We're not important enough to warrant the monitoring of terrorist phonecalls, emails and bank records. There is a start-up industry of Democrat lobbyists, environmental whacko groups and phony "carbon credit" companies that need to suckle a little of the government milk to get going, and national security and our spy agencies are going to take the hit. Is liberalism a mental disorder? Absolutely!!
I am a Roman Catholic and I believe Aidan has a couple of screws loose regarding his hatred for my Church. But I don't think this is enough reason to censor what he says. Extreme threats and personal attacks against other forum members can be censored, but all comments directed toward public figures, organizations, and issues probably should be acceptable topics for discussion as long as it is applied evenhandedly. I don't think Aidan is winning any converts to his point of view with the bizzare comments anyway.
Alwayslost,to be frank,I see nothing wrong with referring to EDITED ,lesbians,& 'transsexuals' as being EDITED, considering that they are an abomination anyway & heading straight downstairs into the Lake of Fire in Hell. Aidan.
Well, let's just look at the definition. lib·er·al (lĭb'ər-əl, lĭb'rəl) pronunciation adj. 1. Permissible or appropriate for a person of free birth; befitting a lady or gentleman. 2. Obsolete. Morally unrestrained; licentious. n. 1. A person with liberal ideas or opinions. 2. Liberal A member of a Liberal political party. [Middle English, generous, from Old French, from Latin līberālis, from līber, free.] liberally lib'er·al·ly adv. liberalness lib'er·al·ness n. SYNONYMS liberal, bounteous, bountiful, freehanded, generous, handsome, munificent, openhanded. These adjectives mean willing or marked by a willingness to give unstintingly: a liberal backer of the arts; a bounteous feast; bountiful compliments; a freehanded host; a generous donation; a handsome offer; a munificent gift; fond and openhanded grandparents. See also synonyms at broad-minded. ANTONYM stingy Sounds pretty civil to me. And actually, the more liberal voices here are easily the more civil participants on average anyway. Conservative voices seem to harbor most of the intolerance just like in real life. You know, they hate gays, immigrants, Muslims, Liberals especially. It is the intolerance that leads to the lack of civility.
I have no problem at all with Aidan voicing his opinion on the Chruch or anything else - it is merely the manner in which he chooses to do so that bothers me. To be more specific, it is the particular words he chooses to use. He can say exactly the same thing in a more civilized manner and no one will ever censor a word. As a matter of fact, I would personally fight for his right to do so; just as I would for anyone else.
Aidan, I rest my case and rely on the juror for the decision. I had to turn around and look at my jury sticker on the ice box to spell it. English is such a complicated language!
Cloudsweeper99,you've been deceived for so long that you are not aware that the Romish religion is actually an idolatrous one.It has its roots in Babylon & Ancient Egypt. The Romish doctrine of transubstantiation is derived from the worship of Osirus. The statues of the Virgin Mary is derived from the Ancient Egyptian statues of Isis. Is the Mass mentioned in the Bible? Are Popes mentioned in the Bible? The answer is NO! These are figments of imagination made up by the leaders of the Romish cult, which,by the way,ISN'T Christian at all! Purgatory is also not mentioned in the Bible either. Aidan.
Steve,it goes to prove that IRISH are extremely gullible, especially those in the Romish rebel pirate state in Ireland. The sooner that Ireland returns to the British Commonwealth, the better, then the wind of freedom will blow through that country. The Romish theocracy in Ireland will be swept away as irrelevant, along with their minions in Sinn Fein/I.R.A. Aidan.
Aidan you are of course assuming that we want them back in the Commonwealth, after reading all your posts about them I am not sure if they should be allowed admitence
