Iran says it tests missile, Israel within range TEHRAN, Iran -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran test-fired a new advanced missile Wednesday with a range of about 1,200 miles, far enough to strike Israel and southeastern Europe Full story here http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/20/AR2009052000383.html
Well as Mr Speaker Martin is now basicly surplus to requierments I thought we should send him to talk to them
lol I heard radio reports today saying that this missile can hit US bases in the middle east. Ooooh! Scarey! I got news for those crack reporters, they have had missiles that can do that for years. And, Iran has about 6000 miles to add to their missiles before any could reach the US. I am just not too worried about this new missile.
Well, My first response to this was big deal. Like Iran is going to lob a few missiles at Israel and expect no repercussions? It's a "show of strenth and technology" to me. Good for Iran. Now how many can they produce, where would they target them and if loaded with nukes which way does the wind blow? "In the nuclear case, we send them a message: Today the Islamic Republic of Iran is running the show," Ahmadinejad said in a speech at a soccer stadium that was broadcast live on Iranian television. "We say to the superpowers, who of you dare to threaten the Iranian nation? Raise your hand! But they all stand there with their hands behind their backs. "Every center of power which wants to shoot a bullet, before it can put its finger on the trigger, we will cut its hands and send it to hell." Nice rant there isn't it? If a "superpower" decided to threaten Iran he might not be so bold. Hey dude, we'll trade your prototypes for the proven version. I won't lose any sleep over this development.
I am not too concerned about Iran lobbing anything at Israel either. Israel has a lot of nuclear weapons (not to mention probably chemical and biological too) and the missiles to easily reach out and touch anyone in the Middle East. And almost certainly the stomach to use them if attacked. If Iran attacked Israel, I don't even think we would be able to keep that dog on the leash. And the US? Like I said, he's about 6000 miles short while we can reach out and touch them any time we would want to with any weapon we would want to touch them with...up to and including parking lot makers. The bluster probably makes a good campaign rhetoric but that is all it rally is.
