Oh, and a thank you to those who know how to engage in a reasonable discussion. Your exchanges are like an oasis in the desert. I appreciate the contributions! Again, thank you.
may very well have been that what this guy read...the constant hyperbole being spouted blaming liberals for every societal woe in America inspired him to go hunting for liberals...that is not far fetched. It wouldn't be far fetched if an ultra liberal did the same thing to a gay bashing conservative church. But a person who would do such a thing has serious problems already if he can be influenced in such a way...Also it sounds like his personal life was pretty bad. If such rhetoric causes him to kill, then it isn't the fault of the person spewing rhetoric, it is simply that the person was already capable of such things or was driven to blame liberal for his problems? If things had gone another way, he might have blamed the employer that let him go, the landlord wanting rent...or just society as a whole. Just an unstable person in the end. That's always a sad thing when a person with problems lashes out and kills innocents...drags other people into his personal hell. I tend to think that more often than not the most simple explanation is probably the correct one and to me it just seems like a lone nut who has serious problems taking it out on others...
First off, sorry Clembo if the font I used caused you to lose any sleep- I was merely distinguishing my responses from your statements, but you knew that didn't you? Let's address a few things...it's the height of hypocrisy to call me out for changing my screen name when you are using a nickname. Heck, I'm at least still using my real name. You claim I'm paranoid because I fear what will happen if an untested, ill-prepared, lying, scheming, racist with questionable associations & judgement gets elected President? Ok, guilty as charged. I'm called "knee-jerk" when I call morons out on their self-serving, socialistic blatherings? Guilty as charged!! Close-minded because I tend to disagree with your beliefs? Guilty!! Close-minded because I don't believe there is as much gray area as you tend to think there is? Core values & principles tend to eliminate a lot of gray area, so Guilty!! What else? I believe people taking on (and government encouraging) more personal responsibility will ease a lot of our problems. Keeping people in there current condition with bail-outs, hand-outs, entitlements etc only perpetuate their problems individually & ours collectively as a country. Encourage & motivate people to make responsible decisions, don't reward them for bad one. How about limited federal government? I don't want to be included in your national healthcare bureaucracy..I want to care for & provide for my family myself. I want to make decisions on what is best for me & mine. Taxation? This burden has caused the majority of our woes. A tax system is necessary but it should be fair to all- individuals & businesses. I shouldn't have to pay a higher % because I make more, the mere fact that I make more increases my contribution to the system automatically. Abortion? Murder, plain & simple. No one should have the right to decide that an unborn baby should be exterminated. Immigration? I encourage legal immigration...we should welcome both intellectuals and laborers to come here & participate. Illegals, on the otherhand, began their journey to the US by committing a crime & I have no sympathy for them...ship 'em back now, prosecute anyone who knowingly employs them!! The war? face the fact that we are there...the troops need our support 100%...using them for photo ops, accusing them of being criminals & undermining the authority of the military leadership doesn't sit well with me. Do you see why I have such a problem with your candidate? We are 100% polar opposites on every issue that is important to me personally and I would hazard to say that I'm not necessarily in the minority in my thinking. We can address any other issue you'd like to raise. Clem, my gut tells me you aren't quite the liberal you think you are. You seem to support the liberal candidates but I have never really seen you defend the liberal ideologies. Me thinks you're just under Obama's spell!! As for gypsy, well I think we've all got her figured out.
I would think Gypsy was a female BUT I work with a biker dude named Gypsy, so........ Anyways, not important. What is important is that I live in a desert, Gypsy, I am glad you find my comments like an oasis, thank you. I'll compliment you as well, that was some pretty good back peddling after I posted the Al Gore info on the unabomber thread.
Thanks guys truth be told neither of you really know squat about me. Don't assume you do. Seems that when I joined PRWE there wasn't a lot of "liberal" talk going on was there? Sure, there was some but no one, that I can recall, came out and said I'm voting for Obama. Correct me if I'm wrong. So things got a bit more interesting didn't they? Wow. He doesn't agree! I rarely really waste too much time on "defending" anymore. You guys do it for me every time you start frothing at the mouth. "Liberal tactic?" perhaps but really no different than a "conservative tactic', "neocon tactic", "Republican tactic". Call it what you want it happens from all camps amigos. Biggest difference is you really only see the term "liberal tactic" used repeatedly. This is the knee jerk reaction. Now. Does this really help your "cause"? Did you ever consider how many people that don't call themselves liberals get tired of hearing it when it applies to them? Do you think they automatically dig into whatever you say and decide you're right? Betting you turn more even further away actually. Hey, that's just my angle and really don't give a #)%* what you think of it. Now David. Yes, I use the name clembo. Have for over ten years now dude. I've had three different employers refer to me as clembo. I answer to clembo and if he remembers I was introduced by Level Headed in Long Beach to at least one person as clembo. If you want my real name PM me. I have nothing to hide man. Hell, I'll give you my address. Level Headed already has it and I have his. Level Headed are you worried I'll be coming your way soon heavily armed? Now Level Headed. Are you still planning to VOTE for Obama cuz you hate McCain so much? This amuses me to no end actually. You post about David getting sidetracked by us "liberals" so he can continue his frothing. His frothing is all about voting for McCain as Huckabee is out. It's all about keeping Obama out now. McCain, although not a good choice, is the ONLY choice. You state you won't vote for him but encourage someone else to keep pushing for his vote. Don't plan on cutting off my nose to spite my face anytime soon myself. Bottom line here guys is WHATEVER happens in the election I HOPE the country becomes a better place. It sure sucks for a lot now and I'm not just talking welfare etc. I'm talking hard working, honest Americans. Hope that doesn't offend you but remember, no matter how hard you may slam me, I'm AN AMERICAN TOO. clembo
I haven't gotten any feedback from what I posted earlier (see post# 23). Does anyone think I'm that far of the mark?
#23 was pretty on the mark. What gets me , is those that think it is bad now, hard to make a living and make ends meet, and to get ahead, and Clembo is one who fits this crowd, he says so many times, is going to make it worse by voting for a high tax / high regulation president. The need for change is apparent. But, as I have stated many times, just UNDERSTAND what kind of change it is you want. Change for the worse is not a good change. We do not want to change the entire nation into a Michigan do we? Obama will do that. You think it's bad now? You havent seen bad yet. I have laid it out clearly and often the reasons for MY Obama vote, yet those who actually support him can only repeat his campaign rhetoric and have not taken a SERIOUS look into what his tax policys will do. You cannot look at history and expect that a "punish the " rich" high tax high regulation wealth redistribution" policy will do anything but harm. It has been proven over and over again.
I will not vote for Obama because I " hate " McCain so much, no. ( Hate is too strong, lets use the word despise instead ) I'll do this again. I'll vote for Obama because we need a collapse of serious proportions, a fiscal catastrophic ass whoopin in America to bring about a return to conservatism. A McCain vote will only be more of the same continuation of the decline of the Republican party away from conservatism. An Obama vote will make every American wake up and pay attention. This is what happened when Reagan took the nation by an 84% LANDSLIDE after 4 years of the inept and incompetent Carter. Obama will make Carter look good. You think it's bad now? Vote for Obama, you'll be wanting change allright. Like I have said. I DO understand my reasons for an Obama vote. The supporters of Obama only THINK they do.
Ya see. Now that's a good response and I WAS curious because although you had somewhat laid it out you had not laid it out that clearly. I appreciate the honest response Level Headed. We do "know" one another somewhat so here's my next question. How will as you put it. "I'll vote for Obama because we need a collapse of serious proportions, a fiscal catastrophic ass whoopin in America to bring about a return to conservatism." better this country? To me it's a lot worse than it was when Carter took over. A LOT worse. Hell, sounds like I'm supporting McCain Times have changed. How much more can this country actually take? Carter to Reagan is NOTHING compared to this. I voted for Reagan BTW. We either keep the crap flowing or take a chance. If the chance doesn't work we go back to the crap? Great choices aren't they? Now if Obama wins and isn't the "saviour" what would make you think that the NEXT candidate would be an "all saving" conservative. It could actually get worse! If McCain wins he sure as hell won't be a "saviour" but we may continue our decline. Then another "Lib" shows up and has a better shot at screwing up this country up even more. ....and so on and so on and so on but more serious his days I'm afraid. This is why I'll vote for Obama. You may mock "change is good" but what's so good about what we have? Again I thank you for an honest tesponse. clembo
You are not listening to Obama. Obama has told you he will raise taxes. That one thing alone will set this economy back so far we'll all be crying for help ( those who do not prepare in advance ). Ahhh, he'll create jobs........sorry bud, the government does not create jobs, private enterprise does. Ahhhh, he'll solve the healthcare " crisis ".......sorry bud, the government has NEVER taken a private industry and improved it. You want a better America. Why then vote for the guy who will make it worse? Ya see, thats the part I don't get. He has TOLD YOU his plans, you have not studied them, thats all. Serious, open minded study and research would probably lead you to more understand the ramifications of a tax and regulate policy.
Okay, you mentioned "tactics" and addressed your choice to use a nickname rather than your real name as I do...but what about all the points I made & my conservative viewpoints on some of the most pressing issues facing us today?? Where do you stand on these some issues my "liberal" friend?
If you think about it, you're not taking that big of a chance. You have his record as a state senator and as a US senator to look at...he didn't accomplish a darn thing in either of those two posts, did he? Except for his reputation of "voting" present rather than taking a stance he served pretty anonymously. No, I take that back...he was able to get that $250,000+ approved for Pfleger.
Obama is not taking a chance, it is taking a bungee jump without a bungee. Get your assets into " hard " money folks, the kind that shines.......I just did. GULP. I hope it is not a mistake.
David congratulates himself - aka his Post #23: Now that's a hoot! Bail outs, hand outs, entitlements... you mean like Bears Stearns, Fannie & Freddie, and Exxon/Mobil? The ones that needed to be 'rescued' because all that de-regulation finally caught up with them? That they're paying for with our tax dollars? And you'd vote for another four years of this travesty..... How mindbogglingly myopic. I move we start cutting deadwood... like Bush, Cheney, Rice, Mukasy, Roberts, Alito, McConnell, Stephens, and, just to make you happy, David, I'd happily see Reid, Pelosi, Shumer and all the other Bushdog Dems gone, too. Oh, and don't forget that weasel Lieberman. He needs a size 22 boot applied to his slimy a$$. So have you offered to kick in extra to cover the war costs? Didn't think so. You do know that interest we'll be paying to China for Bush's pissing match in the Middle East over the next few generations sure could use your support. Personally, I have better uses in mind for my money than lining the pocket of some big oil CEO, financing Cheney's hunting trips, or blowing up some civilian halfway around the world that was never a threat to me. Of course, those things don't concern you. You've got yours, and as far as you're concerned, everyone else can kiss your hairy fat rear end. Well aren't you just the be all and end all of opinions... For someone wanting less government, you sure are eager to get them into everyone's bedrooms. I'll pass, thanks. One thing we agree on - legal immigration. Nothing to really beef about there. Illegals, fine, ship them back. Just remember, you'll be paying higher prices to compensate for the legal folks who'll be replacing them at market wages. I'm not advocating for the employers who hire them. I'm just pointing out that the repercussions will directly affect your wallet. Perhaps a middle ground of 'assimilation' could be found to retain the work force and families while still assessing a penalty for their infractions. Duh, who disputes that we're there and that the troops don't deserve 100% support? And if you say Obama, then I know you're willing to utilize flat out lies to bolster your 'point'. If anyone was out for photo ops, then just look a McCain's stroll through a 'safe' Baghdad market - complete with kevlar vest, surrounded by heavily armed troops and air cover and a phalanx of photographers. Pfffft..... puhlease... You have a problem with the Democratic candidate because you've bought into the self-centered, nasty agenda that actively dishonors the very heart of this Nation and the intentions of the Founders. And that's why I have a problem with your candidate - because he and his party have done enough damage and it's time for them to be resoundingly smacked down.
HEY I AGREE WITH GYPSY It is time for the current Repos and the Repo candidate to get a smack down !! Now, just a bit of disagreement, just a bit. Roberts and Alito? You mean the strict constructionists who interpet the Constitution? I figured your rather have those that legislate from the bench, and quote foreign law, like Ruth Ginsburg, Souter and Breyer. Dont touch Clarence Thomas tho, that would be racist right? Why boot Lieberman? Because he traveled to Iraq and came home and disagreed with Cindy Sheehan and George Soros? How dare he !!!! Who blew up innocent civilians? I remember it was Al Quiada. Sure tragedy happens in war, and accidents happen, nobody likes to see innocent civilians killed ( unless they are in the womb * or partially out of the birth canal*)...PULEEZE. More Innocent civilians are killed in the USA in 1 DAY , AND ON PURPOSE, than one year in Iraq by accident !!!!!! I love the liberals when they care about innocent civilians. Please don't fail to mention the mass graves of innocent civilians we found from the Hussien ( Not Barak, the other one )regime. Dont be to proud of your Obama supporting our troops either, he voted to cut off the funding for them EVERY chance he had. At least he has the courage to not vote "present" when he gets the chance to undermine out troops. Ok, thats enough of a rant tonight. EDIT: Oh yeah, if you do want to boot Pelosi ( a Bush dog? LOLOL ), you'll have to go chase her down, she ran from the House during a debate on the gas price thingy. BUT, I DID agree with Gypsy !! Yee hawwww, progress
You blather on about these topics, but where do you stand on the issues? What are your specific suggestions to improve everything that you think is so wrong with our country?
