    IN THE BEGINNING...

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. In the Beginning was God - and all else was darkness, and void, and without form. So God created the heavens and the earth. He created the sun, and the moon, and the stars, so that light might pierce the darkness. And the earth God divided between the land and the sea, and these He filled with many assorted creatures.

And the dark, salty, slimy creatures that inhabited the murky depths of the oceans, God called sailors, and He dressed them accordingly.

And the flighty creatures of the air He called airmen. And these He clothed in uniforms which were ruffled and fowl.

And the lower creatures of the land, God called soldiers. And with a twinkle in His eye, and a sense of humor that only He could have, God gave them trousers too short, and covers too large, and pockets to warm their hands. And to adorn their uniforms, God gave them badges. And He gave them cords. And He gave them ribbons... and patches... and stars... and bells. He gave them emblems... and crests... and all sorts of shiny things that glittered... and devices that dangled. When you’re God, you tend to get carried away in a big way.

And on the 7th day, as you know, God rested. And on the 8th day at 0730, God looked down upon the earth and was not happy.

    GOD WAS NOT HAPPY!

So He thought about His labors, and in His infinite wisdom, God created a divine creature and this He called a Marine. And these Marines whom God created in His own image, were to be of the air, the land, and the sea. And these He gave many wonderful uniforms. He gave them practical, fighting uniforms, so that they could wage war against the forces of Satan and evil.

He gave them service uniforms for their daily work and training, that they might be sharp and ready.

And He gave them evening and dress uniforms. Sharp, stylish, handsome things, so they might score with the ladies on Saturday night, and impress the hell outta everybody!

And at the end of the 8th day, God looked down upon the earth, and saw that it was good. But was God happy? No!

    GOD WAS STILL NOT HAPPY!

Because in the course of His labors, He had forgotten one thing... He did not have a Marine uniform! But He thought about it, and thought about it, and finally satisfied Himself in knowing that, well, not everybody can be a Marine...

Since the marines are under the Navy's control. They mustve come from a sailor's rib. So what you are saying is the marines are subserviant to sailors, much like Eve. Cool. I always knew marines were the Navy's B----.

Good story jwevansv, and I'm inclined to believe every word of it.

However there is one misconception and that is the Marines being under the Navy's control. To the best of my knowledge the Marines have never been under anyones control. They were none the less, just another branch of the Navy like the Waves. Just wanted to get that streight.

You know why navy ships have marines??? because sheep would be too obvious. As told to me by a navy chief.

That old chief was only partially right, because most of the time they are used as bell-hops. That is the reason for the dress uniform, or didn't you know?

    KLJ Really Smart Guy

Before I met my wife, I got really interested in this girl in my German class at the Community College. She and I got along really well the whole semester, she's got no ring on the important finger, and has been flirty all semester. She knew I stopped after class for lunch at a fast food joint on the way to work and asked one day if she could come too. "Great!" I'm thinking, "I might just be late to work today!" During the course of conversation, she says to me "My husband is a Marine DI." I felt an immediate sense of panic due to the three problems in her statement. Husband. Marine. DI.

You know what MARINE stands for?
    M(y)
    A(uh, rear end)
    R(ides)
    I(n)
    N(avy)
    E(quipment)

That is dirty and disgusting, especially from a Marine.

Having been in the Navy, I thought I had heard them all, but this is a new one! Must have come out in the last 60 years and I missed hearing it before now.

If I were to have made a wager on who would be the first to respond with a negative comment Craig a you would have been in the top 2. Congratulations on taking an innocent, non-partisan post and continuing your personal attacks! I hope it made you feel better after that post.

craig a, That is the most recent irresponsible and despicable thing I have ever read on this forum. Myself being a lowly sea dog I would say that a sailor could only hope to be created from a Marines rib.

I dunno, I thought Craig's post was just as funny as the original post. To actually think and believe that God favors those that pride themselves on their ability to kill other human beings is pretty absurd don't you think? I imagine that you probably do have to tell yourself that kind of nonsense while performing horrendous acts of barbarism, rape and murder but I don't think it is fair to ask the rest of us to do anything other than chuckle at the idea. You aren't insinuating that this is what our military's job has become. If so, you owe all the men and women who have ever served in the military an appology. If this is nothing more than one of your smoke and mirrors posts, please choose different language the next time.

I only respond in the negative out of service rivalry jwevansv. I bleed Air Force blue. No harm intended just good natured ribbing.
