There were 2 important elections in the Midwest today.

The Chicago mayoral runoff saw the lefty Brandon Johnson (let's go Brandon) beat Paul Vallas.

In Wisconsin, the state supreme court had an election in which Dems flipped control for the first time in 15 years, likely protecting abortion rights.

    Love my Midwestern Homies.

It's yet another sign that the maggot side of the aisle is nothing more than culture war heroes with no ideas for governing this country at any level. The American people are tired of their shtick and ready to be done with them entirely. I can relate.

I'll bet that neither of you two ignorant members know ANYTHING about the platforms of those two democrats who won. All you vote for is the "D." The result in WI especially was very bad for their residents and the Second Ammendment. I don't expect either of you ladies to support the Second Ammendment or have touched a gun in your life.

Well the Chicago one was a primary... so quite literally the only option was someone marked "D"

I think the American people are tired of ALL the shtick put forth by both sides of the isle and would resoundingly welcome a return to some semblance of normalcy from their elected leaders.

Chicago doesn’t have the best history of electing good mayors as can be evidenced by that last “progressive” loser they just threw out. And don’t forget Rahm Emanuel who was an Obama loser.

Chicago does, however, have a history of making repeated mistakes and it looks like they just made another. I wish Chicagoans well.

Results are in. Surprise, surprise, the guy who promised to clean up the city got hardly any votes in the district with the highest crime rate. LOL, I wonder how that's possible?

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court loss is enough to turn the entire state over to democrat control and a "new California" in the heart of America.

Neither was important. At all, and it is silly to think there was importance. Chicago is going to keep on Chicagoing, and Wisconsin... what is there to say, when the only news worthwhile from there is the Packers, and that isn't looking so entertaining, lately.

I have seen and heard more interesting and important BS at the local country store.

I somewhat agree with you on Chicago, but it's a symbolic victory for the left. You're right though that one person won't have the ability to change the trajectory of the city, at least not in the short term.

With Wisconsin, it matters a lot. If nothing else, it protects abortion rights. The Wisconsin AG filed a lawsuit that will likely go to the Wisconsin supreme court soon regarding striking down an old abortion ban. This election essentially sealed the outcome as the outgoing judge staunchly opposed repealing the law.

I’m glad you are celebrating the symbolic victory. In 2022, there were more children killed by gun violence in Chicago alone than there were in school deaths by firearms in the entire country. You care about school shootings right? Pat ya self on the back, celebrate, or whatever, the nameless dead children counts in Chicago can continue. This is the true definition of Symbolic Victory.

I still think he will be better for Chicago than Vallas, I'm just not naively expecting earth shattering change overnight. Though admittedly Vallas would have probably eliminated public school shootings, given his track record of eliminating public schools.

So you are cool with the killings of innocent people in Chicago- status quo? I’m going to guess, that you are also good with downgrading violent felonies to misdemeanors and letting those individuals go without bail to commit more crimes?

That's a lot of non-sequitur statements in a row. How about you show me the mental path you took to get from what I said to your first sentence?

    You said:
Vallas ran on hard on crime. Johnson is as bad, if not worse, than lightfoot. Crime will continue, criminals will be released, and Chicago will continue to murder more innocent children. Comprende?

He has a different approach than Vallas. Your interpretation of the merits of each approach does not put words in my mouth implicitly.

Oh, ……. different approach. Interesting. I didn’t put words in your mouth Gene, I just repeated your words and applied them to the positions of the candidates.
