So first of all patriotism in a nation based upon democracy is a bad thing for you? Second, Stalin did not rule with patriotism but thru fear. You seem to have an obsession with the republicians as being an evil entity. Last time I looked it was the muslims that are killing all over the world and they have been doing it for over a thousand years now. There is certainly nothing wrong with loving your country and I guess some call that patriotism. But I think of patriotism as making your country and the world community a better place to live and not just for the few but as for many people as possible. Opinions on what is and what is not good for us all are bound to differ of course, and there is certainly more than one way to reach the goal. It is the nuts and bolts of what we go on and on about here. But for someone to say they have a monopoly on patriotism or that they are more patriotic for their beliefs is just egocentrism. I guess my point is that patriotism isn't blindly following everything an elected offical says but more of a vision of a better world that transcends any one person's personal agenda.
Ok so you are taking it to a higher level not just u r bad no u r bad. Patriotism is dangerous since it is based on a mob mentality and members of a mob tend to lose the ability to reason. A nationalistic fervor is about the most dangerous thing to a free people. My father often warned me to beware of flag wavers and Bible thumpers. That having been said I love and respect my country and believe the Bible. Stalin and the whole motherland thing: there are many in Russia who still venerate Stalin because he represents a sort of Russian/Soviet strength and stability that is lacking today (BTW we better keep one eye on that Putin dude, he may tap into that). The interconnections and ties between Islamic leaders and Western leaders makes me believe that much of the threat that you speak of does in fact originate in our own nation. As I recall that wacko form of Islam from Saudi was invented by the CIA as was the Taliban.

O.K. so now some of you think it a good idea to impeach the President for using citizen surveillance for national security. I just got to thinking what would have happened if FDR were to be in charge now. Maybe he would have done exactly what was done back then, when the USA rounded up all the Japanese (many of them very loyal citizens of this country) and threw them into “internment” camps. At that time the Supreme Courts upheld the President’s authority to intern the Japanese during wartime. Then there was the FBI files on persons of German decent and citizens of this country who just happened to be members of the German Bunn association when the war broke out. These included the families linage back two generations and the where abouts of all living relatives, both here and abroad. Yes, a lot of good people lost a few rights for a few years, but for the life of me, I can’t remember anyone or any group calling for the “impeachment” of President Roosevelt. Back then you didn’t have to be PC all the time and an all togather different brand of politician in Washington.
You can't impeach a congressman. You can only hold a recall election. Being from California, you should be familiar with those by now. Arnold was sure an inspired choice. Who would you replace the democrats with, the San Francisco 49ers, the former cast and crew of Who's the Boss, or random members of the Tonight Show's audience?

The big difference is that infidels like us Christians and Jews have moved into the 21st Century while these animals want to take everyone back a thousand years. Since we are in this world war fighting against the worst scum this country has ever seen, we need to gather intelligence about our enemy and there are people on the left that would rather protect the rights of our enemies than the lives of American infidels. Of course our CIA keeps that under the wraps because we don't want to offend the muslim community. I say tough! Maybe that will wake up the left...or will it take another terrorist attack killing thousands of people...again! BTW...I love this conspiracy program by the republicans that infiltrated ALL of the southern churches. I shouldn't have said to have "a choice in everything" for you are right...a black pather police department is ridiculus, especially when you are dealing with the protection and security of the public and their property, so I take that back. I want a choice where to apply MY tax dollars for school and social security. Most people on the left totally object to any reduction in this type of government power and social program. I am not asking what to do with your money, just mine. Choice in these government programs is a good thing.
In regards to Islam, I have known Islamics that I trust and know to be honorable people. Most Islamics are of this sort. I have also had the opportunity to know some of the "I hate America" crowd. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between the two, and it is wrong to say there isn't. As for the southern churches what I stated earlier is exactly what the Reps did, it does not take much insight to see that. Btw I knew that you would back off on choice when I brought in the Panthers but there are many in our inner cities (Baltimore, Detroit, Philly, D.C.) who feel that their tax dollars are being used to fund law enforcement agencies that oppress them.
How did you, Danr, find out about those southern churches? There were millions of us conservatives that swore an oath (it was a huge teleconference call) never to tell liberals these secret plans. The fact you uncovered this right-wing conspiracy speaks volumes about you Danr! How we infiltrated these churches of stupid people and converted all of them to conservatives was suppose to be top secret, but you uncovered the truth Danr! What a man! Since the Dulles brothers and Ike we have had a State Department that has been pro-arab and pro-muslim. Does oil money have anything to do with it yes. Did anti-jewish feelings by the Dulles brothers interfere with the best interests of the freeworld. Yes. Now this mindset was the same mindset that decided to arm and help train some elements of the Taliban. Yes. But the vast majority of the Taliban were trained in Pakistan and funded by the Saudi government. The Taliban existed before the CIA gave them some missles with limited life span and was on a holy war then. That was why the USSR commited so much resources to the region. They wanted to stop the spread of active Islam into the Soviet republics that were of muslim background but not active followers. By the way there were alot of republican leaders and people in the know that were that were against this policy but our then VP Bush, ex-CIA head, pushed it as well as anything else that was pro-saudi. It was never included in Reagan's orginal plan to break the soviet union.
