As world population grows, the problem's only going to get worse. Farmland is being populated and people are protesting against genetically engineered food so harvests remain limited.

Its very worrying. In some developing countries food prices have risen by 40%. The problem is made worse by farmers growing bio fuel crops intead of rice, maize etc.

I read somewhere that this centuries wars will be fought over water. It looks like we can add food to that.

Excellent points. Why are so many people having so many children when most of the people that have these children cannot afford it?

It's not just people having too many children. In some places with a high infant mortality rate, they have to - their children are their retirement plans. But, along with a high birth rate, people are living longer. Now scientists want to clone body parts for transplants to treat problems which in the past would have been fatal. However, I do believe that repairing bodies in non-life threatening situations would be beneficial.

They can't even grow genetically modified crops strictly for bio-fuels. People are afraid that the crops would cross-pollenate with food crops.

People are living longer indeed, but what is the quality of their life. I do not want to live til I'm 90, really, how fun can it be sitting in a home where you are cared for by people who are earning minimum wage, and can't stand cleaning up your feces :D

I'm all for advancement in science, but such advancements should be used ethically.
