Sorry to hear that Stainless. Keep your views. Keep exploring other views. They will change in life under different circumstances. That being said realize you HAVE shown your views! Every time your fingers hit the keyboard and you hit "post" you have shown your views. It's not just religion and politics. It's life. Please take that to heart. clembo
Don't give up. No two people have the same ideas, thoughts or opinions, or this would be a very boring world (if we all thought alike.) I don't care if others' thoughts conflict with mine, after all, I know that I am right!
I understand if you dont want to post here anymore, but it would be cool if you stayed around. If you express an opinion, ideal, belief...there will simply always be those who disagree. You need to know that and deal with it. I think there are 2 types of posters. Those who read what others have to say, take it in, think about it, and then respond either agree or not...then there are those who are sure they have it all figured out and are only posting to enlighten people, most often these posters are characterized by posts that sound more like preaching or teaching then opinions. Those people do not care what is said in response to what they have posted...if they even read what is said at all, its just to show you how you are wrong, stupid, young and dumb, brainwashed, etc... With posters that fit the first...DeOrc as an example, I will read what he has to say and seriously consider the ideas he puts forth because I believe he does the same for others and he seems bright with common sense (of course for all I know he practices auto erotic asphixiation with goats ), he isnt just here to tell us how it is because we are all stupid and need to be taught. He seems here to discuss, listen and express his own opinions. With posters that fit the second, I wont bother with examples...I will seldom take them seriously, if I comment, its probably more regarding them and not the subject they are ranting, preaching, teaching to us.... There are a few posters that I feel bring very little to the forum simply because they seem to have a disdain and put off as if they just know better than others...those who do not agree are stupid, dont get it, sheep, you know the drill. I dont think these people deserve a response that deals with the actual subject they are posting about. Anyway...long story short...if you are going...see you on the other side (cointalk) if not, dont let it get to ya, try to have a little fun, inject a bit of humor
Gees, you didn't even name names, but they pop right up in the thoughts... They are the cutters and the pasters, and the posters of imagery to stir passion. When I see the images they post I don't even bother with the message they pasted, I just skip over and ignore the whole thing.

Oh, and one extreme example of the second would have been JWevens...he would hurl constant insults at people calling them Ignorant, dummy, stupid, terrorist, un-American, etc..etc...then when you respond to comment about how over the top insulting he was...he would lament that all you are doing is attacking the WAY he made his point and not dealing with the actual point. Apparent he thought we were still supposed to engage him in serious conversation as he constantly belittles you and throws a litany of insults at you. That guy was just too much.
Hey, sorry you feel that way. This is the reason we needed to get the politics off Coin Talk in the first place, because it inevitably leads to people having blowouts. I hope things here will cool off after the election, taking a break until the new year or something like that might be a good idea for anyone who becomes too emotionally invested in any discussions.
I think you have to have a pretty thick skin, or acquire one quickly to stick around here. The key is to stay just under the radar, and annoy your antagonists into getting banned....
I don't find this place too bad. The group is small enough that you know what to expect when you post and you pretty much know what others are going to post. As I said in another thread, some things that are posted make me cringe but they are often enlightening.
You are young. Go out get a women to love who loves you and have many kids. But keep your voice loud for there are those who would cut it in the name of allah.

Are you saying you baited that man to lose his composure. The man appeared to be a troubled soul, hateful talk to try to give himself power for he was most likely powerless, friendless and perhaps a victim as a child. Yet when he tried to tell simple jokes to reach out in a postive way, to expose himself without any walls of protection, some here made fun of him instead of trying to help him. How can a person defend a religion that preaches death, ignore the deaths of innocents in Africa, Asia, etc...and yet get all worked about a man who is in need of help. Easy target perhaps?
yeah SM...why did you pick on poor old aiden, dont you know he is a troubled soul reaching out for love? If railing against a whole relgion for the actions of a some (aiden hates all catholics) is 'hateful talk' (and I agree it is) and is a product of powerlessness and being friendless, etc...a troubled soul......(and it probably is)...One doesnt need aiden, one merely must look at ones own posts and the post a few others...and seek help.
I banned Aidan as he continualy refused to follow the rules and continualy used foul language and personal attacks on others. No one else had anything to do with this decision, it was not something I did lightly, he was given more chances than anyone but refused to change his ways.
