I think a more accurate analogy would be if Obama were to deny people who wished to have it access to any medical procedure that for whatever reason he found personally offensive.
How do you derive fetal "rights" from this? It is a matter of practicality and simple good sense to insure that a woman who choses to carry a fetus to term and give birth to a baby is kept healthy and well cared for during her pregnancy and that her chances of delivering a healthy baby are maximized. Whichever way she decides do go, and by far the vast majority of women chose to carry to term, the quality of her medical options and care is important. For all your pious talk about "life" I don't see that you are terribly concerned about women or children but you do love those fetuses.
Nice, but not really what we're talking about. And you don't know me, but you'll find that when it comes to Obama I side with the RW freaks (apologies to Mr. Burke) on this board at least as often as I do with those who are more supportive of him. While you and I might focus on different aspects of Obama's record I think that we both agree that on the whole he hasn't been good for the country. So you can keep bringing him up if you like, but it's kind of pointless as far as I'm concerned. He won't get much of a defense from me and you won't get much of an argument. Save your Obama crap to throw at his supporters.
You're right...I don't know you "personally". However, I know you by your comments. You use the same disingenuous technique used by "Progressive" Liberals of taking an isolated aspect of an issue, making a point, then extrapolating that result to the entire topic. In other words, just because our society ignores the human rights of an innocent baby (not due to the NEED of the Mother, but due to the WHIM of the Mother) doesn't mean those who are morally opposed should be compelled to be financially complicit in their crime.
Well now we're back on the subject at least. You seem to know quite a bit about the mothers in this situation. Interviewed a lot of them, have you? Know their history, know their circumstances, know the conversations they've with their conscience, their families, their spouse, their imaginary being of choice if they have one? That's a lot more than I know. You ought to share it with us assuming that you wouldn't think it in invasion of their privacy. As for not paying for it, you figure out a way that I can opt out of the portion of my taxes and goes to our wars of aggression, our killing of innocent people who have done nothing more than get in our way, and our massive global spy operation and we'll talk about it. Also I want to be compensated for the revenue lost from the tax exemptions granted to faith-based cults, scams, and money laundering operations aka churches.
Spoken like a true Liberal...if you can't defend your position on the topic at hand, you reel in every other unrelated topic to give yourself cover.
Perhaps our next president will force a law down our throats that requires every citizen to join a church and tithe accordingly (to pay for spiritual guidance and charity work) or else pay a penalty (it will be called a "tax") the enforcement of which will be accomplished by the IRS. This will be done under the pretense that everyone, sometime during their lives, needs spiritual guidance and should contribute to charity. Whether or not you choose to take advantage of the spiritual guidance is entirely up to you of course, but everyone will still have to pay.
You want to opt out of paying for abortions and I want to opt out of paying for wars. What's to defend? Be nice if we could both have our little opt outs but I doubt that it will happen. Again, what's to defend here?
The little baby in the pic was giving a "thumbs up" to yakpoo's statement. Do you believe the mother and child are the same entity during the entire pregnancy up until the moment of birth? Or do you think that at a certain point the during the pregnancy, but while it's still gestating inside the mother's body, the child becomes its own entity?
We're already forced to subsidize churches through tax breaks and exemptions. Your Sky Troll gets His from Washington now. Obama doesn't have to do a thing.
I believe that it doesn't matter what i believe. It's not a decision I'll ever be forced to make. I'm content to leave it up to those who are faced with it. That doesn't include you, assuming you're a man or a non-pregnant woman.
Don't confuse "rights" with "enemies"? I think you've got an apples and oranges problem here. What is it that you are trying to say exactly? I know you can formulate a logical sentence. You've done it before
