Which is why you notice that he is sniffing around and polling McCain etc. on their views. This guy is smart enough to realize he is not smart enough to do this all by himself. He just might be another Ronald Reagan. I thought Reagan was smart enough to realize he was not smart enough to run things, but smart enough to find the people that were. By that measure he was freaking brilliant. Which is in sharp contrast to George Bushy, he is a numbskull that thinks he knows everything and listens to nobody.
I hope so. Being from Illinois, I have to wonder how much of Obama's more liberal positions were something you have to have to get ahead here. On the flip side, I wonder how much of his more moderate and inclusive positions during the election and now were something he had to do to get elected. The other wild card, for me, is that he has spent most of his time trying to get that next promotion - State Senate to US Senate to Presidency - as quick as possible. But, this is the Presidency...there is no promotion after this. My hope is that he is more the moderate and inclusive person and that will come out. But, I don't question his smarts at all. I have no doubt he is an intelligent man.
He's a politician. Just like Bush running as a bi-partisian, non-nation building conservative. Strike 1, 2 and 3 on that one.
Hahaha. Yea he was the only person ever to use deceit to get elected. All the others were stand up guys.
I'm gonna have to agree with this one. Rick Edleman will be trotted out on news programs to keep telling everybody that now's the time to dump every penny into the markets because they're down and get ready for the upswing. And perhaps it will go back up. But then at what point will everybody be satisfied with their gains and get out? 40% profit? 60% profit? 80% profit? 120%? When they retire in 20-30 years? Or never, until the reality of what's being done right now and over the next year finally sets in and it tanks for good. IMO, once it does recover, you'd have to be insane to stay in that game. We're in for more trouble than people want to admit, I believe. We could have a depression coming 10x worse than the last one, that will last 5x longer. Pretend it is coming. Who do you expect to warn you about it? It hasn't been until just now where people are actually allowed to say we 'could' be in a recession on the news, without being laughed off as pessimists who knows nothing. As McCain said on the campaign trail, this bailout is a turniquet. (Pretty strong words.) They're going to stop the bleeding and take care of some symptoms temporarily. But everything they're doing, this whole plan of pushing more credit, more cards, cars and home loans that people can't afford........is how we got in the mess in the first place!! But that's all they know to do!! That's all they can do. They're not willing to accept that the economy can only be controlled so much and there's going to be bad times. They never let the bad times happen so now or in the future, we get to take a massive hit all at once for who knows how long. Yeah, I suspect it's getting to a point where non-perishable food items, water, guns and ammo, medical supplies and basic tools could soon be more valuable than any fiat currency, stocks, bonds, or any other printed instrument. All it would take is for trucking to be limited or shut down and now the large cities to small towns go without. They'll be cut off. And how long can we realistically expect people to truly go without? If we're lucky, martial law would be imposed, and then if we're lucky again, they'd actually have the man power to enforce it nationwide. Although doubtful. (Considering the inevitable cutoff of tax dollars coming in to govt. agencies until local, county and state officials are no longer getting paid to go to work.) I guess they could volunteer to risk their lives in the crowds?? Anyway, to think Obama would be the sole reason behind the economy turning around is so idiotic it's almost hard to believe. Ludicrous. The same people would laugh if you said Bush was responsible for our cheap gas prices now. Some people have trouble understanding that the economic situation is much bigger than one person at the top, who is supposedly pulling the strings. But that gives some people that warm and fuzzy feeling I'm sure.
Hmmmmmmm. Don't recall seeing anyone defending previous administrations past actions. Great (but tired) cop out though. So by your logic it's unreasonable to expect anything other than deceit from an elected official all the way to the presidency??? I sure hope you don't waste your time voting!
Stu....the word in red....... It's been used.......used and abused! When that word changes to "Is" or at least "Looks" (as in actions happening) let me be the first to know. mmmmkay? Thank you!
Right now all I have is the sounds of his words. He has no other powers at this point. That is why I, for one, am waiting until he actually has the powers of the office before passing judgment on his presidential legacy. lol.
Stu, I know why you said that. I was just clarifying the point for some of our other subscribers. The sad part is, we already know what he's going to do. He's said what he's going to do. He said, we're going to put off worrying about tomorrow or next year or the next year, and worry about fixing the economic crisis that we have right now. However much damage that causes us at any time in the future doesn't matter. I heard it straight from the source. Well, guess what? Next year and the next year, aren't that far away are they? The answer is to print more money and allow banks to give out more loans based on money that doesn't exist, limitlessly, which is basically what has already been in place! I haven't heard anything new or innovative coming from these people. Soon these facts will have to dawn on even the dumbest of the dumb and nothing they do will work anymore. Should they pull the trump card and cut the interest rate a point and a half?? Oh wait, they can't! They've already exhausted that option. To assume these clowns actually have a viable, workable plan *for the future* would be funny if it wasn't so serious.
No difference. Absolutely zero. I feel like I'm the only one that can see that. Now, if Ron Paul had won, maybe there would have been a chance. Notice I said a 'chance' that things could be fixed. I mean we could have had a chance at major reform and long term stability. Not "continuing down the same beaten path, unexplained, unwarranted, short term jumps, so people on this forum could brag about all that Obama's doing" type of differences. We have no chance with McCain or Obama. Letting the Bush tax cuts expire isn't going to solve anything. I'm afraid people have come up with their own ideas on who is in this group and think it's going to solve everything. I'm afraid they're sadly mistaken. I believe earners/households making 200, 250k are still middle class when you factor in all the taxes and social security that gets cut out of their pay. Then cut out the school loans these people likely incurred to get to that point (since these jobs usually aren't just handed to people) and you have a group of people that are by no means getting rich. The Bush tax cuts expire and these people get hammered hard and therefore, they will cut additional spending that the economy is currently enjoying right now! lol But then again, Obama says 95% of Americans will get a tax cut under his plan. Which is great. But if he lets the Bush tax cuts expire and then introduces his own plan, is it the same repackaged deal, with Obama's name on it? What changes? No details. The Bush tax cuts aren't just for the millionaires although a lot of people have convinced themselves that they are. The affects will be felt far and wide. That's likely why Obama's delaying it.
Wait a minute. There would be one difference. All the Obama supporters on this forum would be writing everything I have here, only, inserting McCain's name.
Everybody has lost sight of ONE MAJOR POINT: Voters fell for Obama's ploy because he sold himself as a NEW KIND OF CANDIDATE.....and he has proven that is not the case, even before he is crowned President. No experience, no achievement, no substance- just the CHANGE brought by a NEW KIND OF CANDIDATE. Guess what? He lied. What's next?
I have a feeling a significant portion fell for him because the current president tainted the entire party. When the sitting president is avoided like the plague by candidates up and down the election, "change" can be a very basic thing.
Oh, I haven't lost sight of it. It's funny that people have to remind people. It doesn't take long for them to lose sight of anything. Then if you try to bring them back with a youtube video, there's kicking, screaming, bitterness and gnashing of teeth.
LOL!! If you don't mind, I would like to add that last line to my sig line. That is the best it has been summed up thus far.
