Not sure if this falls into "other things that aren't controversial enough to argue about." But seriously, toss some science, truth and logic at the neocons and magic poof! All done, All gone.
A member of this forum, current whereabouts unknown. The full-moon kilt was just me being me...goin' "commando" to throw my "opponents" off their game. Just like basketball, this site is all about scoring points.
Yep. Takiji is a seldom seen member these days. Very articulate, funny and just happens to be an open "homoseshul". OMG!
Is it really necessary to define Takiji as openly gay? It's sort of like saying, "So-and-so is openly [insert race] or "So-and-so is openly straight". I just don't see the necessity.
I see no problem identifying Takiji as gay as long as he does. He adds a perspective to the conversation you or I might not have. It's not like there are groups out there with signs saying, "God Hates Heterosexuals" but there are groups out there trying to marginalize gays and your "Let's just not talk about it" reminds me of those people who say, "I don't see race, I just see people". That sort of comment says that although you are a minority and I am a majority, your differences don't matter, and your culture doesn't matter, and your heritage doesn't matter even if you are treated differently by the majority. Coming from your perspective, I don't expect you to be able to understand how your attitude marginalizes minority populations of any kind. You come from a demographic perspective that hasn't experienced what every minority group in this country has experienced almost daily. You can't hope to understand what any minority group experiences when you approach it from the stance that there are no differences. There are differences and they need to be acknowledged and even celebrated but definitely not ignored. Enlightenment will take time and effort on your part and you are most likely not going to invest in either.
Certainly there are differences. That's the human race, for ya. However, your attempt to portray humans as "different" based on sexuality or any other inherent characteristic is the basest form of discrimination. You're the type who probably refers to African-Americans as "blacks" or homosexuals as "gay". You're the type who insists on categorizing and labeling people which, in and of itself, is discriminatory. I prefer to call people out on their politics, beliefs and ideas, not some characteristic they can't change. When will your breed of old dinosaurs learn not to be such prejudiced fools?
I thought that it would go over your head and it certainly has. On the one hand you are saying "Certainly there are differences. That's the human race, for ya." but then you infer that I am somehow discriminating against different groups by even talking about them as different, and you just admitted that they were different. Minority groups do get identified whether it is in a derogatory characterization as is often portrayed by your political cohort or simply by the characteristic that is currently acceptable. Whether black, African American, homosexual, or gay is the current term is a side issue at best especially as there is no attempt to identify any of these groups in a derogatory characterization. You love to try and make any discussion about any minority group about the politically correct language rather than whatever the real issue is in the discussion. Maybe that is your one trick pony approach to all discussions of minorities and you really have no deeper understanding than that. My point is that you can't address issues of discrimination, inequality, prejudice, or race by pretending that you don't see any differences. Something you seem incapable of learning.
I didn't say he was gay I said he was a "homoseshul" if you feel like splitting hairs. And you are. And you know it. It gets old. REAL old. For the record I am openly Caucasion and openly heterosexual. Feel free to whine about my "coming out". I also mentioned that Takiji is very articulate and funny. Did you have a problem with that? After all, I was name calling and I'm not known for that but when you get down to it articulate and funny is DEFINITELY name calling. In a good way. Makes me wonder. Tak. You reading this?
What I see is your inability to perceive any person different from yourself as anything but "different". Yes, there are differences, but that's not what defines us. That concept seems to elude you. So, keep telling yourself that you're not discriminating when you refer to an African-American as "black" or a homosexual as "gay". It's time to move beyond the labeling system, but you grew up with it, it's ingrained in you and you're unwilling to change. Too bad for you and the other prejudiced fossils out there.
Alright, fair enough. Define what you meant by "open homoseshul". P.S. I couldn't care less that you're caucasian and openly heterosexual.
Do we really want to ask Tak to come back...for this kind of BS? Nah, I like him too much to be that cruel to him lol
Alas, I have done my best and met the inevitable wall of denial obliviously galloping his one trick pony off into the sunset. I have yet to comment on either what does define us or what doesn't define us but that hasn't prevented you from hearing exactly what you want to hear anyway. You trot the mount of open ignorance toward the finish line without ever realizing that you are having an argument with your own narrative. You are so spellbound by it that you don't even converse with others as much as you play a soundtrack in your own head that has a preconceived outcome that makes you comfortable with your own opinions. You fall back on the same worn out trick of PC language being the issue which only resides in the confines of your imagination. You prove this by ignoring the points you can't contest and boiling your responses down to the single aspects that your narrative can tangentially relate to. I guess that is what forces you to guess things about me that you can't possibly know. You are merely trying to rescue your self-image from the court of public awareness. Yeah, I don't expect much from you and you always seem to deliver.
Not his fault...he saw bare butt and simply had to comment. But let's face it, that butt is soooooo fake. It's obviously airbrushed.
It would be great if society had advanced to the point where a person's minority status were truly irrelevant to their existence. However, there are people who write laws to protect negative discrimination based on minority status, and knowingly enact laws which directly or indirectly disenfranchise certain members of society. As long as those people endeavor to enable bigotry, acting as if minority status were irrelevant is just a way to passively perpetuate that bigotry. Doing so in in ostentatious and holier than thou manner is comical, but not particularly enlightened.
