    LOL

    Yep.

Just emailed myself the Sanchez anathema (I wrote a program to
    "decapitalize" it this afternoon).

For some reason, the paste seemed to die halfway through in the terminal,
but upon "." and "quit" and downloading the email, the whole thing got
    sent.

    Then again, it stripped the

    http://www.militaryreporters.org/sanchez_101207.html

line that I have at the top.

Geeks do that. You hace achieved the nextest level.

Now you can make up all kinds of weird tricks messing with header info
(eg. mail arrives marked read and doesn't get pitched into the spam
    bin).

Wot I'm brooding over now is telnetting POP3 servers.

I believe it is preferred to use ssh for such passwordy stuff.

You cannot help thinking that the no doubt ill-advised
rebellion in which I was concerned in youth,
unarithmeticable aeons before this Earth was thought of,
took place quite long enough ago to be forgotten.

    LOL

    http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/pop3telnet.htm

Looks like TOP <N> 1 is the command, man.

Too bad it doesn't have an option to send all subjects.

But, then again, I vaguely recall telnet having an option to run a little
    prog during the session . . . pipes? . . . maybe . . . <_mumble_> . . . .

No brooding required. Just connect to port 110 and type in the right
commands and *poof* - you got mail. The best part is being able to
    delete stuff without reading it.

You get to type that a lot. TOP 10 usually gets enough header to
    make a delete decision.

One damned message at a time, unfortunately, or so it seems, in POP3.

I mean, reviewing using TOP to see if you want the email or not, and
scragging it with DELE (and QUIT) if you don't.

Add their email address to your .sig for awhile (prefixing "EMAIL HERE

Looking forward a bit, am I correct in assuming you can also telnet yer

    That could get majorly cool.

You can, but you miss the esthetic beauty of a 200 level cascade unless
you're really good at structuring references and visualizing stuff in
your head - although, if people follow proper usenet discipline and
avoid snippage and top-posting, you really only have to read the most
recent messige (not always easy to figure out).

    Giganews won't know - you're just a slow-typing single-connection
    newsreader to them.
