Well actually, I have more than two things, but these are the two ~latest~ things. A baby lemon grove. I cut open a lemon one day and some of the seeds had tiny roots starting to grow out of them, so I planted them. Two have sprouted in that pot. Then I got creative and potted a lemon that was definitely going mushy. Months later, four more lemon sprouts appeared. They take a hellishly long time to germinate. So I'm the proud owner of six tiny lemon trees. Anyone know how long it takes till they bear? The second thing is a sore toe. Dropped the vacuum on it two weeks ago, startled teh puppeis with all the hopping and swearing. It got worse. In fact, it got infected. Saw the doc this a.m. and he referred me to Auntie Biotix and told me to stay off of it for a while. Fat chance with T'giving roaring down upon us! AND the nail has turned yucky shades of black and blue; doc says it's going to come off. Eeeeew!! Smee

Apple, pear, plum and cherry trees bought at the nursery 3-5 feet tall (probably 2-3 years old) usually produce two years after transplanting. I think flowering only happens on 2nd year and older growth for most fruit trees. http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/morton/lemon.html My neighbor just planted a mess of grapes and fruit trees along the property line - I get to take advantage of the overhang - reciprocal services for me letting them work out drainage and gardening issues which involved moving dirt and removing two trees and some bushes on my property. They also felt a little guilty for building their house so the lilacs didn't get sun and died. Now I gots a purty redwood fence and a level bush-free area for free. And fruit. Some neighbors are nice. > The second thing is a sore toe. Dropped the vacuum on it two weeks ago, > startled teh puppeis with all the hopping and swearing. It got worse. In > fact, it got infected. Which means, if the "overhang" is "technically" on your property, you get to take advantage of it, by law, even though it is from your neighbour's property.
