  1. right. i have now read the book. now all i have to do is watch the
film after dling it sometime 'round cristmas. lets see how hollywood
has fucked over yet another book. i wasn't over impressed with the
book, it wasn't as good as i was led to believe. then again, i am
looking at it from 50(?) years after it was writen. i did like the
twist at the end which made perfect sence.

The book was solid. The first film made from it, _The Omega Man_, wasn't
    bad, even starring Charlton Heston.

I have more than a few gripes with the book. Solid may be a good word
to describe its structural integrity the same way you might say, oh, a
brick outhouse is solid, but a work of art... wellllll, Matheson ain't
no Frank Lloyd Wright, that's fer dam.

Read Jack Vance. He's the Roger Dean of fantasy/sci-fi.

Start with _Maske: Thaery_ (heh) (you'll get it once you read it).

And then _Showboat World_ (aka some long title I can never remember).

And then _The Gray Prince_ aka _The Grey Prince_ aka _The Domains of
    Coryphon_.

    And then _The Last Castle_.

And after that, er, hum, yes, the "Durdane" trilogy, _The Faceless Man_,
_The Brave Free Men_ and _The Asutra_ <shudder>.

How the fuck do people do that anyway? I remember back in 2002, many
months before "Star Wars Attack of the Clones" to scheduled to be
released, this guy at work downloaded the whole damn thing on his

Usenet has movies *before* they're released to the public? That's what
I'm asking about: How do you get a movie that hasn't been released yet?

As I understand it, after a movie is initially cut to be presented to test
audiences, it passes through several hands and is also sent to several other
people (in the biz). These vids often have (every few minutes) something
stating that it is a pre-release. Basically, it was leaked. Or stolen as
that is a more correct term. Somebody made a copy for his friend and....
There you are, watching the movie way early.

That's awesome. I feel like I was part of a conspiracy or something.
