Too early to tell yet? Are we in the middle of the experiment yet? FWIW, Yahoo had a news article up on their homepage this morning for about 5 minutes. The title was, "U.S. economy sheds 473,000 jobs last month". I'm sure whoever the lib in charge was got that ripped down as soon as they saw it. It seriously didn't last for long. Didn't get a chance to read it. I was curious since this is the summer months when traditionally more jobs exist and unemployment is lowest. Just wondering if hiring outpaced that number. Has the stock market bounced back yet? Are we seeing green shoots? I have not noticed anything improving, nor do I know how things can improve as I have stated in the past. Seriously, I wish everyone the best of luck once this stimulus package runs out. We are maintaining 'bad' right now. I hate to see what's next.
As long as you have been here, DanR, you are still a fresh voice to this site. I do see light at the end of the tunnel for you my friend. You have put down the koolaide. Kudos bud. You know, it may not be obvious right away, but open eyes will get you far. Keep your thinking and question hat on. We all should. Right on.
I mentioned this in another thread but here goes is the recession over No has it reached bottom proberly yes and the reasons for saying that are as follows Job losses have slowed down in the month on month figures House sales have increased Repossesions (Forclosures) have slowed Banks are both offering and in some cases have repaid parts of there loans The markets are holding steady and there is no longer the headlong fall in the prices of stocks, there have even been a slow claw back in some sectors. The Dollar is not in free fall.
Where do you get this information? Unemployment in the U.S. just hit a 25 year high at 9.5%. The economy saw 460,000 jobs lost last month which was worse than predicted. They said if you factored in the people who have given up looking for a job, the unemployment rate would be closer to 16%. This is also having a devastating affect on tax revenues. So don't look for state governments to be creating make work programs anytime soon. How do we generalize all banks into one category and say they are doing well? If you want to look, banks continue to fail but the news seems to not want to report on it much. Or they're not allowed to. Here's a list and a map if you're interested. Few more just went under today: http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-Failed_Banks-sort.html The government would have you believe that they all can fail and FDIC will insure it all. Just because the DOW isn't dropping 700 points a day like it was shouldn't give people a sense of security. It's less than 2000 above a horrendous 12 month low and over 4,000 away from the high. The longer this drags on, the more grim I believe it will be for the markets. People will get tired of waiting for their money to come back. Many maybe can't wait and will need to pull out to survive. I think Bush and Obama will prove to be the one-two KO punch to the dollar. By the time Obama gets done, the dollar WILL be in free fall. Why wouldn't it be? Countries are demanding a new global currency almost daily. Especially China. BTW, we haven't even seen deficit spending yet compared with what's to come. I'm shocked that the dollar is holding at all. It's only a matter of time.
I did assume that you could actualy read? I never said job loss total was falling I said it had slowed perhaps you cant tell the difference and after all what are you complaining about thats the free market at work.
Craig! Where's the substance Craig!? Isn't that what you always say to everyone? I posted substance. You left a one liner that nobody knows what you're implying or who you are referring to. So what's funny?
Hate to be a raggar and a constant downer, but lets look at the previous promises as to the package they want to try again. "We MUST get this "stimulus " passed or unemployment will hit 8%".....it is now approaching 10% "We must get this stimulus passed to control the debt and generate revenue".......debt has increased 4 fold and tax collections are at an all time modern low. "We must pass this stimulus to shore up jobs"........we have lost 2,000,000 jobs since the last stimulus passed Not as a " I told you so " but I predicted Jimmy Carter type numbers.....we are seing them already. Pass this 2nd " stimulus " and watch inflation go even beyond what the first will cause. Ever put your hand on a hot stove as a kid? Did you learn your lesson? Did you ever poke a beehive? Learned you lesson right? Why can't you learn it now? And the kicker....during the campaign and election cycle we were told " this is the worst thing since the depression" , today we are told " we underestimated the situation"....give me a freakin break.
No. I never say that to anyone. Most post here dont have any substance. Facts and numbers are posted here that are from somewhere else. Thats easy to do. whats funny is; you complain if banks are rescued, and you complian when they fail. Bottom line is you just complain. Thats what DeOrc was referring to. Thats what was funny. But you knew that.
Craig...Looks like StimII is being floated, must be a great day for you...keep your fingers crossed!!
Figures you'd post something stupid. I'm still waiting for you to show me where its stated that the libs hate Palin because her daughter didnt get an abortion. Please put up, or shut up.
Stimulus ? Brilliant ! A stimulus is a tax. Tax all in what might be a depression in short order. Tax small business and employees for health insurance or lack there of. Cap and trade is a tax by another name. You can not tax your way out of a resessive economy ! As I understand about 10% of the money has been spent to pay for Obama votes in the Predidential election. GM should have gone directly to bankruptcy court. The ineveitable came to pass. Same goes for Chrysler. Payback for the Service union for their votes. The President meets with the Service Unions President weekly. Acorn through their hundreds of secondary vehicles to aquire money and power. Banks to work with Acorn and of course the census. This is a take over of America as we take another breath. Everything is being done at once, and nothing is being accomplished. A bridge to Socialism is being built with our money ! You are buying votes for possibly someone you did not cast a ballot for. Sedition ,Tyranny and a few others things come to mind. Ignoring the Constitution and theDeclaration of Independence are unlawful . We are in an area of stagflation, until the money is spent in the out years or another stimulus is tried. People wish to work, not receive handouts and depend on the government for assistance. Quantum leaps do not exist, we will have to go with a slower evolution of things and slow down . INFLATION is around the corner and it will hurt . Register as an Independent and vote as an American !
