Did y'all know that Hillary Rodham Clinton used to be a Goldwater girl? She came from a Republican family and only during her college days after she was able to leave home and see what the world as all about did she become a Democrat. So now you Republicans have something to love about Hillary too. Even if she finally wised up, she once thought as you do. Perhaps there is a lesson here for us all. Ala Winston Churchill - If you are a Republican and you haven't gone to college, you haven't got a clue; If you are a Democrat and you haven't been through college, you already know plenty.
Hey make up your own for or against either way. Keep it fun guys.

When Hillary was living at home, she was probably a virgin. After going off to college something happened which turned her into a Democrat. Get the idea?

It is EASY to be a democrat in college when mommy and daddy are paying for it. It is part of the "gimmee-gimmee-gimmee" and "make somebody else pay" mentality of these people.

It is when people get into the real world is when their education really starts. Hence the reason for books like, "What they DON'T teach you in Harvard Business school"

As a fan of Churchhill, you butchered his quote which is:

"If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain."

Which I find accurate because I grew up in a democratic house and then logic and rational finally caught up with me.

Remember...this isn't your father's democratic party of Truman and Kennedy...they have moved to socialist ideas.

Actually, Kennedy was fairly conservative as a Democrat. And, yes, the party has lost itself, and many members.
But, at the same time, the Republicans have gone nuts the other way.

Why can't we have a party of Middle-of-the-Roaders.

Today's republicans have abandoned the political philosphies of Goodwater and Reagan and are "yesterday's democrats".

Today' democrats are nothing more than Europen socialists you find in countries like France.

Yes, we need a 3rd party. One strong on defense. Fiscally conservative and one that could care less about social issues like abortion and praying in schools.

The problem with the Republicans is that they pander to the religious right far too much, the Dems to the lower class.

And for the middle class--- nada.

Time for an uprising and a new party.

Hence the need for a 3rd party with the above platform. If ran correctly, they would win 60% of the vote.

Shoot...Ross Perot garnerd how many votes on a whim when he toyed the idea of running for President on Larry King. When you watch the 1992 debates, he CLEARLY destroyed Bush I and Clinton.

It could happen, but not likely as both parties are tying everybody else's hands...so again, you have to vote for the lesser of the two evils.

The problem with Midas is that talks about a third party...from way out there on the fringe.

    That's right...

A strong national defense, fiscally sound principles and leaving social issues (abortion, praying, etc.) alone is now the "fringe" to Moen.

    Well, so be it!

I'm not sure that the British use of liberal and conservative are close enough to the US definitions for the quote to have its intended meaning.

Strong national defense eh? We already spend over 30% of our budget on "defense" and that amounts to more than the rest of the countries on the planet combined. How much is enough? 40%, 60%, 80% 100%!!! To put in your words. In spite of the fact that no country has attacked us since the Japanese attacked Hawaii 60 plus years ago, we continue to pour money into weapons and it still isn't enough for you. Gimme Gimme more bombs and weapons. Typical war monger.

I understood the intended humor. The few times I've tried to use any sort of humor that goes beyond what can be understood by someone in middle school, it has never been recognized as such. I would guess that what I post is 1/3 humor, 1/3 fact, and 1/3 opinion -- but people don't understand it that way.

It is a bit sad when you have to dumb down humor so more people in this forum will get it. So sad.

I am fond of Sir Winston's quick wit and humor. During the darkest days of the Battle of Britain (I think but it was serious time during WWII) he had to have a meeting with the temperance society. Sir Winston was well known for his fondness of cigars and brandy. An old biddy with an air quipped that, "I bet you have drank enough brandy to fill half this room! Sir Winston, not to be set aback, looked around the room from bottom to top and said, "So little done, so much to do." Implying that he would continue to keep drinking brandy until the amount filled the room.

During the American Civil War some of the Union generals were complaining about General Grant's fondness for whiskey. Abraham Lincoln said, "Find out what brand he drinks and buy all of my generals a keg."

Until US Grant take over command of army, Lincoln had some of worst generals leader could ever be punished with. In study of USA war of 1861-1865 one could theorize that if Confederate side had Lincoln as leader, with the military leaders of that side, they would have been victor in war. From study of war, it would have been over much earlier, late summer 1861 had Lincoln had generals willing to fight and not run - thinks of Battles of Bull Run - where USA lost two battles where soldiers run away quick in battle.

Drunk US Grant was better than sober McLellan, or W. Scott, or Burnside.

As for back to subject, Ronald Reagan once in Union of Actors, and Democratic party member. He become to Republican party by 1964 and I believe support Barry Goldwater.

    KLJ Really Smart Guy

Reagan remains the only President to be a member of a union (unless you call the Bar Association a union), and Reagan was PRESIDENT of his union (the Screen Actor's Guild).
