LONDON (Reuters) - British police on Thursday said they had thwarted a plot to blow up aircraft in mid-flight between Britain and the United States, and were holding 21 people after overnight raids.

"We are confident we have disrupted a plan by terrorists to cause untold death and destruction," said London police Deputy Commissioner Paul Stephenson. "Put simply, this was intended to be mass murder on an unimaginable scale."

Both countries stepped up security, causing severe delays at airports following the announcement of the plot, which a police source said was believed to involve a "liquid chemical" device.

Unconfirmed media reports said anywhere from six to 10 planes had been targeted in the plot.

From the news reports we are having herer this was going to be not one plane but up to ten of them going bang at the same time in mid flight!!! At the moment the airports are in a state of chaos (organised LOL) and the public is responding very well to the crisis.

This is very similar to plot by Chechen "freedom fighters" plan to bring down Russian aircraft in Aug 2004. They even had women do this, and succeed in bring down two aircrafts killing some 93 people.

Thankfull this did not happen, these islamic radicals go to jail and hell.

 

This could have been the big one we've been expecting since 9/11, thank god we caught them in time.

 

KV your people should just pull out of the bloody place and drop a couple of large bombs on it, I am sure it would make a great parking lot.

I know, instead of banning lighters, liquids, box cutters, matches, nail clippers, and the multitude of other ordinary items, we should just ban one thing and end the problem completely....Anyone that happens to be Muslim. Seriously, when you can't tell which ones are the nut jobs and which ones are sane, the only sane thing to do is make them ride camels across the Atlantic.

The UK has a huge Asian population that seems to be sypmathetic to the enemy. That reality needs to be addressed or there will be no way to stop all of the terrorist plots that will be conceived in the future. It's time that ordinary UK Muslims take a stand on one side or the other or become victims of either those that act in their name or victims of those that will apply a blanket solution to the problem. I had better hear a loud outcry from the British Muslim community over this latest incident or I will have very little pity for those that suffer under any severe restrictions imposed by the British government. :loud:

 

Come on Moen, the only outcry you will see from these people is if they see another Danish political cartoon. Watch then...they will take to the streets demanding death!

These are the kind of events where most muslims simply turn their backs! Sure the media will dig up a few muslims denouncing their fellow jihadists all the while claiming Islam is a "peaceful religion", but the vast majority are still financing, harboring and supporting these jihadists...directly and indirectly! Face it...you will see NO outcry!

You know what is the scary thing about these people? Reports today state that the 21-plus muslims that were captured were once radical in appearance and talk, but they ALL recently made in roads into the community by attempting to "blend" into the population thereby looking more like British "normal" civilians. They were trying NOT to draw any attention. Hmmmmm.

One of these animals that was arrested was a 2-week-new MOTHER!

Unfortunatly it is not quite as simple as Midas is saying LOL the area that most of these people lived in 'Walthamstow / Layton' is a predominatly Asian area so fitting in means visiting the local Mosque regular and wearing the same clothing (having watched the local news this is how they were percieved by neighbours).
Now in case anyone is wondering how I know this, I lived round the corner to the local Walthamstom mosque for 5 years I have to be totaly honest here and say that as neighbours went they were very good, the problem is that they do not intermix as well as others have and the number who fail to even learn English is very high.
So how do you spot one who is fitting in with the local population LOL

Now this means of transportation I could agree with, the only draw back would be that you would first have to "brick' each camel before starting the long crossing. This technique is also used prior to crossing large deserts.

I heard tonight that 17 more have been arrested in Pakistan in connection with the plot. Also I heard that 2 of the UK muslims were women with small children!

 

This was just more phoney crap. No one is trying to kill you, calm down.
