The more it changes, the more it stays the same.

Labor Day honors the people that built this country and made it better for all of us. It's a day to appreciate everything we the people have accomplished through hard work, long hours of sacrifice, and years of struggle. At no time in my life have I seen labor under the attacks we have witnessed in the last 3 decades and especially in the last 12 months. I plan to attend our local Labor Day parade which my children always participate in with their high school band and I will carry a sign that reads, "No Republican congressman belongs in this parade that honors the workers of this country" and when I see one walk by I will stick it in his face. On the back I think I'll write, "Republican hypocrite". They have no business in a Labor Day parade. Have a nice BBQ guys!

Would it not be grand if we could have a world without nations, without organized religion, without classes. A world ruled by the people for the people. Where the workers are all united as one. Think about it, no more reasons for war, no more famine, all resources going towards the betterment of the human race.

Shame the only thing wrong with it is that it wouldn't work. No May Day for me but at least labor day works, well maybe not as much work now with zero job growth for this month but that is another story.

I like your OP pic. It reminds me of my area's labor rights movement a century or so ago. This area's major economic sources at the time were lumber and mining (iron, copper, and most recently, nickel). The mining industry was pretty brutal to those who stood-up for worker's rights back then.

Today, they don't use guns and hired thugs, they simply buy members of the Republican Party. It's much cleaner and easier to bribe someone than to have to read all those nasty headlines. Yes we have come along way in labor relations.

With governors like Walker, the Special Olympics shouldn't be the issue. A special election should be the issue. Oh yeah, already in the process and he won't have to worry about next year's Special Olympics ceremony being interrupted. He won't be there.

Anti-union Republicans uninvited from Wausau’s Labor Day Parade
The Marathon County Central Labor Council, which supports 30 local unions in the area, sponsors the Wausau Labor Day Parade and their president Randy Radtke announced that local Republicans like U.S. Representative Sean Duffy, state Senator Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) and state Representative Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon) are not welcome or invited to the event.

It was actually the union miners that did the mass murdering in the Herrin massacre. Our county has had a violent early history...we had our own Hatfields and McCoys, our own Al Capone, a couple of actual massacres, periodic violent union/mine confrontations, a Klan War, and probably a few I am missing. Back in the late 1800's and early 1900's, we were the scourge of Illinois. lol Bloody Williamson is a good book but probably mostly of interest to Southern Illinoisans.

I cannot believe you are condoning that let alone touting as an example of good. I guess discrimination is acceptable so long as it is only done by your side

Yep! You are correct. I am discriminating because I object to anyone interrupting the special Olympics. I concede that the leftist union members are more handicapped than the special Olympians.

As is so often the case a quick google gets you the whole story rather than a Faux News-style spin.

Goody! I am sure "Earlier in the day, the group was part of a “Die-In and Zombie March” by about 50 people protesting cuts to student aid and a new voter ID law that critics say will make it harder for students to vote" easily excuses their trespassing, disorderly conduct, and the conduct at the special Olympics. I am totally missing your point except that "it is left, therefore I am for it."

Is it any wonder that you are so hard for the rest of us to follow? First you chide me for discriminating as long as it is my side doing it and then you turn around in your next post and say that it is YOU that is discriminating. I mean ! Are you drunk on sacramental wine this morning? This is why I generally just ignore your posts. No rhyme or and certainly no reason to any of them.

I admit it. I do discriminate against discriminators (as in "Republicans being angry old white guys") and idiots as you post has clearly demonstrated.

There are none so blind as he who will not see - but then I guess that went over your head also. As to what, try the handicapped, the white, the old, Christians, the Tea Party, Southern education, etc.
