No bill ever proposed ever has tried to eliminate private gun ownership. That's been nothing more than right wing rallying based on myth. Gun control is not gun elimination.
Bull! You may have been suckered into believing that but the far lefties, such as fog-of-war moen & his ilk, have a much different agenda. Why else would going after the law-abiding folks be their ONLY proposal?
Guy.....Feinstein has said she would have taken every single damn gun away if she could.....this was after her last AWB passed in the Clinton years. BO has said he does not think Americans should be allowed to own guns period. Its not myth or parinoia......just what THEY have said. There are many others but those stick in my head. Eric Hdlder said we should brainwash children against guns... The left and the anti gun gang are well documented in their pursuit of total disarmament. Cmon.......
They said this and that....but show me one proposal in writing where they actually tried...just one. You can't because it's never been done. Fear is what your friends at fox keep feeding you, mnot facts.
Libs don't have the balls to just come out & admit to their agenda...we get it in small drips & drabs as they build their case with lies & misinformation every time there's a tragedy. The left has people believing every single act of violence is perpetrated on kids, by some conservative, using a military-grade fully automatic assault rifle.
I don't have cable. HD antenna is all. That bill would be political suicide. We all know the hardcore progressives want total disarmament.
Some may indeed want it, but nobody has ever written a proposal for the reason you stated. So to say they are trying to take your guns is stupid and untrue. No agenda, no motive, just plain not happening at all.
Fair enough. But knowing they want to......... At this point I only own my carry sidearm and a .22 scoped bolt action rifle. My AR's went for stoopid freakin ridiculous money....... But I will replace now that they are back on the shelves. Might even add a semi-auto shotgun
Liberals are like termites...they just keep nibbling away.... We need gays in the military = Gay marriage We need medical marijuana = Recreational drugs for all We need gun control = No guns for anyone We need to stop second-hand smoke = Tobacco prohibition We need to protect rape/incest victims = Legalized abortion for all We need universal healthcare = Life choices dictated by government etc, etc, etc...
According to paranoid conspiracy nuts. That they believe ONLY CONSERVATIVES own guns says a lot about them. They can't fathom the idea that liberals own guns, and have no "plan" to take away all guns from all Americans. It's insanity at it's most stupid...so yeah, definitely FOX "News" driven paranoia. How weak-minded does a conservative have to be to believe that kind of utter nonsense? Unreal.
Whoever said that only conservatives own guns? I certainly have not. My family resides in Detroit, 90% are union indoctrinated mind numb Obamabots and they all own guns. A cpl aee actually cops.
I'm sure plenty of libs own guns (they do tend to be hypocrites, right?) they just aren't smart enough to realize the agenda they blindly follow is contrary to their own self-interest.
If I understand current gun laws, I can not own a gun without risking a 5 year prison sentence. I live less than 1000 feet from a school. I can have a gun in my house but I am not sure how I would get it there, since I would have to drive on public streets in a "gun free zone" to get it there. So, riddle me this Lib-man, how are my rights not being affected. What have I done to deserve this restriction.
That's a state/county/city ordinance, not a federal law, Con-man, as we have no such law where I live, nor have I heard of such a law. "A "school zone" does not refer to "a place of residence or place of business or on private property, if the place of residence, place of business, or private property is not part of the school grounds and the possession of the firearm is otherwise lawful."9 Example: The inside of a person's home is a part of his/her private residence and is therefore outside the scope of a "school zone". However, the sidewalk outside a person's home is still considered "public" and therefore constitutes a "school zone" if it is within 1,000 feet of a school.10" http://www.shouselaw.com/gun-free-school.html This is from CA, passed in 1990 (gasp!) and ratified in 1995.
It's all part of the "if you ever want to see federal funds being spent in your state" part of the constitution. I am glad you have no such laws where you live. It stems from the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. Admittedly, the act was deemed unconstitutional on interstate commerce issues but, the "Gun Free School Zones" portions of it are still in effect. You don't have "Gun Free School Zones" where you live? Read the long list of convictions, post Supreme Court ruling. It will give us much to discuss. Until next time, keep up the good work Lib-man. Greetings, over and out, Con-Man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun-Free_School_Zones_Act_of_1990
We must have posted on top of each other, thanks for the link to California's laws. It seems that better since prevails at state level. It's more or less bad laws I have problems with. School grounds are one thing, beyond school grounds are the slippery slope. I'll have to check local laws in Tennessee, which is pretty much a shoot'em up state. The resistance that you get from folks like me, is in the tendency legislators have to pass draconian laws for political purposes which can make law biding citizens into possible criminals. This should be resisted. Speaking of California, they did try to confiscate rifles from an Olympic ski shooter because they were "sniper" rifles. Saw it in a documentary a while back. I'll try to find a link.
I agree that the distance restrictions are nonsensical, and would like to see them removed. School property is understandable, but "1000 feet from school property" is idiotic. But, if you want a riddle, how about "What's black and white and red all over". Answer: A text-book with a kid's blood all over it. The restrictions didn't stop that from happening.
The California law is almost verbatim of the Gun Free School Zones Act of 1990 with the 1000 feet restriction. Fortunately, in the gun happy red state of Tennessee, I can take up the hobby of high-tech rock throwing at paper targets and be within the law. They restrict guns to no further than the school parking lot, providing it is locked and secured. This I consider reasonable. You can't pass a law that prevents deviant criminal behavior, you can only prosecute after the offence. You can, most times, spot someone in the process of running amuck and try to intervene on their behalf before they become dangerous. This requires individual involvement, and the simple willingness to give a damn. We unfortunately live in a service sector society where we think you just pick up a phone, dial 911, and have justice delivered to our door steps just like pizza. That attitude has to change.
