Great! That is exactly what I thought. You are the only one who is crazy enough to admit what the rest of them believe. I always count on you for that. Now that we have one honest but misguided individual admitting what the rest are too calculating to admit, even to themselves, I think we see how completely bent on absolute insanity the Right-wing is in this country. No atrocity, no number of innocent children, no shooting on any scale can convince the true believers that people are more important than some edict written over 200 years ago by people with good intentions but absolutely no ability to see where that edict might lead this country. If that isn't blind insanity, I don't know what is.
(See the highlighted text) So, you've gone from serious posts to silliness? Where did I say this? Did you lose sight of the part that a guy who blows away his neighbor for the reason you mention has committed a crime? I own, probably, more guns than anyone on this forum but I've never once killed anyone. Personally, I don't have a desire to own a assault weapon, an RPG or any of the other weapons the lefties rail against but why shouldn't I, as a responsible, law-abiding citizen, be able to own one if a decide I wanted to? Do I "need" one? No, but when has that ever been the limiting factor in any decision someone makes...and who gets to decide what I need or don't need?
Mr Nation is absolutely correct. NO amount of crime will encourage me to render law abiding citizens defenseless.
You are already defenseless if I walk up to your house with a RPG and let loose. So bringing this back to the entire public and not just you Jack, let's say a group of militia members takes there high powered assault weapons to a local elementary school and klls everyone. They were not criminals prior to the mass killing but because they obtained these weapons legally, you accept their right to own them until they actually use them. Would that make you want to rid this country of high powered weapons? I think not because you and the rest of the gun crowd see society as this vicious kill or be killed existence that must be continually fueled by more and bigger and better weapons than these amorphous killers have that you fear so much and simultaneously provide with the same weapons. Where does this cycle end Jack? Where does it lead us to as a society? Is it a place you want to go? Hum?
I can't answer your hypothetical until you tell me what color unicorns the milita will be riding in on. Cmon dude!! Get freakin serious already. First you start all all touchy feely with children as a tool. You regularly parade out the dead to push your point. Now your stretching would make an Olympian jealous. Disarming law abiding citizens makes them less safe. Period. Look, just say you don't think people should own guns and be done with it. Its ok. Thats a valid opinion. Sure would be a lot easier to discuss disagreement with you.
Bingo! That's because there are regularly dead to parade out. As I've said many times, I've been around hunting weaons all my life. I see no point in high powered weapons for protection if all they do is necessitate the need for themselves. If I buy a bigger gun that you, you go out and buy a bigger gun than me. I then have to go out and buy a bigger gun because you have a bigger gun than I do. When does it stop Jack? When will it ever end? The answer you won't give is that it never will end.
You are correct. It will never end. It is designed not to end. The right to self defense is self evident and fundamental. It shall not be infringed. Now that we agree, lets see you start some ban alcohol and ban cigarettes campaign. You can post pictures of car accidents and dead smokers lungs. I may even join you
You have obviously decided to change to a conversation I don't think we were having. I guess there is just no point in taking you seriously and besides you have far more practice having a conversation with yourself than I'll ever have.
It sounds like the governor of Illinois is thinking about bringing out the big guns to battle crime in Chicago. Why is gun violence so prevalent in a city that has had some of the most restrictive gun laws? (CBS) – Gov. Pat Quinn says he would consider using state resources to help combat Chicago street violence. Speaking about this week’s mass shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Quinn says he’s open to talking with Mayor Emanuel or Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy about supplementing Chicago law enforcement with state police or the Illinois National Guard. He said he’s had no specific conversations but noted state police are helping patrol in East St. Louis, another city that has its challenges with violent crime. http://nation.foxnews.com/2013/09/21/illinois-governor-considers-national-guard-combat-chicago-crime
A few people have changed their minds. What it took was for a close family member of theirs to be murdered during one of these mass-shooting sprees.
Changed their minds.. how? As in now wishing their family member had possessed a gun so they could have defended themselves?
I thought the conversation was stopping violence and deaths in general. Car crashes aren't violent? Cigarettes don't cause death ? Cmon....I'm looking to be buddys and pals in the effort to save everybody but if I change from gun deaths to other deaths you seem to not want to play anymore........whys that?
Wayne LaPierre has the right idea: NRA: Get 'homicidal maniacs' off streets View attachment 1996 http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/09/22/nra-get-homicidal-maniacs-off-streets/?intcmp=HPBucket
None. Just like there is no protest violent enough that would make me believe I should lose my right to have free speech and no wrongfully un-convicted criminal who would make me believe I should lose my right to a fair trial and no terrorist act that would make me believe I should lose my right not to be the subject of illegal searches and seizures or...
The problem isn't guns...the problem is an entitlement culture where mentally unstable people feel victimized if they don't get everything they want. Btw, just to keep the record straight, what Congresswoman or classroom of school children were shot with an assault weapon? (keep your underwear off the wall)
Single shot muskets would be fine with me as long as all local, state and federal government agencies (FBI, CIA, DHS, DEA, IRS, etc), all public and private police and all branches of the military as well as all criminals were guaranteed to have nothing more advanced than the same.
Sorry, but mine came first by a long shot. You said in the op "assault weapons". Again I will ask just what do you consider to be an assault weapon? So far the closest you have come to an answer was a squirrel gun. That will go over worse than a lead balloon.
