Science panel: Get ready for extreme weather


WASHINGTON — Think of the Texas drought, floods in Thailand and Russia's devastating heat waves as coming attractions in a warming world. That's the warning from top international climate scientists and disaster experts after meeting in Africa.
The panel said the world needs to get ready for more dangerous and "unprecedented extreme weather" caused by global warming. These experts fear that without preparedness, crazy weather extremes may overwhelm some locations, making some places unlivable.
The Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a special report on global warming and extreme weather Friday after meeting in Kampala, Uganda. This is the first time the group of scientists has focused on the dangers of extreme weather events such as heat waves, floods, droughts and storms. Those are more dangerous than gradual increases in the world's average temperature.
For example, the report predicts that heat waves that are now once-in-a-generation events will become hotter and happen once every five years by mid-century and every other year by the end of the century. And in some places, such as most of Latin America, Africa and a good chunk of Asia, they will likely become yearly bakings.

I'm sure you guys are much smarter than the top international climate scientists and disaster experts because you sit in front of your TV and take in all that RW propaganda. While I tend to agree with the people that actually do the science of climate change and put little to no faith in those media outlets that are paid to push a narrative for the corporate elite of this country.
Do me a favor. When you're sitting in your nursing home some time in the furture, think back about how wrong you were and try and realize that you were probably wrong about a lot of things. Then again, self-reflection isn't really your strong suit is it?

What's next on the proof meter? Snow & sand = global warming? And didn't they change the name to "global climate change" after Gore was exposed as a fraud?

 

They've already lost the argument, but can't see it. Let them keep their heads in the sand if they want to, it's their right. I'm not changing their diapers though.

 

Oh don't worry, I'm sure that depends will hold much more in the future. All the stuff they are full of has to come out eventually.

Funny, they seem unwilling to discuss the points in the article almost as if they didn't read it. Reminds me of what the White House shooters said, "don't think, just believe" or in this case just don't think and don't believe. I'm sure that has worked wonders for them over the years.

Come on, instead just sniping, discuss with us why you think the experts are wrong and why what we have seen so far in extreme weather phenomena are just "normal" weather occurrences.

Lets not forget about all those esteemed expert scientist that falsified the facts about global warming...no....climate change....or whatever you call it next.

I think the sand they have their heads in is oily, and the information on Global Warming is water... it just slides right off of 'em...

 

I'm just not seeing any evidence that the climate change that everyone is fussing over is man-made. Texas has had many droughts in the past and will continue to have droughts in the future. It's part of life in the Southwest.

 

There was a time not too long ago when all the experts said that Florida was gong into a hurricane cycle based upon global warming after we were hit hard three years in a row. I do not think we had one in the last five years or so.

weather changes, solar flare activity, mantle and magnitic poles shifting and yes the Africans and South Americans are cutting down all of the trees but lets blame the Americans but only the Republican ones.

Abe Lincoln - Was anti-slavery and was the basis of his presidental platform.
Dr. Martin Luther King - Gave us all a Federal Holiday as well as other important stuff.
Ronald Regan - Pretty much ended the possibilty of a World War between Eastern Europe and the West as well as being a major reason why most of Eastern Europe is democratic free today and Russia is a developing democracy even with Putin who with all said that KGB shirtless dude really did turn things around ecomomically over there. No more people starving to death.
Sarah Palin - Attacked by the corrupt republican establishment as well as Scared Nasty Democrats and leftwing media but may have sparked a grass roots reaction that this nation does belong to the citizens.

As for the planet. the Worlds populaton has to be controled and that is the real issue no one wants to deal with other then the limited way China does.

 

Lincoln's was a bit different Republican than the Republican's of today... in the 146 years that have gone by since his death great changes have occurred in politics and the World.

I don't like Dr.s in general ...Dr. J. & Dr. Pepper suck... but I guess I can make a slight exception for King.

Regan was chosen by Reagan for Treasury Secretary in 1981... but I'm guessing you mean the President. I personally loathed Reagan, almost as much as I loath Bush Jr., but I don't know that much about Regan to loath him.

Sarah Palin.... (laughs) ...you have got to be joking! You seriously look up to that woman? (laughs)... Sorry, but that to me is unreal. That she's popular, I have no doubt, but to look up to her... to add her name with people like Lincoln, King (Jr.), and (throws-up a little) even Reagan... that's just unreal to me.

The e-mails implicate scores of researchers, most of whom are associated with the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an organization that was created exclusively to provide evidence of anthropogenic global warming. Among the IPCC elite embarrassingly, if not criminally, compromised is Phillip D. Jones, a Ph.D. climatologist at the University of East Anglia whose work figured prominently in the IPCC Third Assessment Report of 2001. Jones also contributed significantly to the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report in 2007 (AR4), but he failed to follow through when skeptical investigators asked to review raw data associated with that report.

There are many more instances of contrived data as well as IPCC scientist who dispute man made global warming.
