Yeah, Survivors.... That's what we are, survivors. Would make an interesting thread - stories of near death experiences and other harrowing tales.

When we come to the last moment of this lifetime and we look back across it, the only thing that's going to matter is .. What is the quality of our love? ~ Richard Bach
"The government consists of a gang of men exactly like you and me. They have, taking one with another, no special talent for the business of government; they have only a talent for getting and holding office. Their principal device to that end is to search out groups who pant and pine for something they can't get and to promise to give it to them. Nine times out of ten that promise is worth nothing. The tenth time is made good by looting A to satisfy B. In other words, government is a broker in pillage, and every election is sort of an advance auction sale of stolen goods." ~ H. L. Mencken
"That erroneous assumption is to the effect that the aim of public education is to fill the young of the species with knowledge and awaken their intelligence, and so make them fit to discharge the duties of citizenship in an enlightened and independent manner. Nothing could be further from the truth. The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all, it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. That is its aim in the United States, whatever the pretensions of politicians, pedagogues and other such mountebanks, and that is its aim everywhere else." ~ H. L. Mencken
Accept fate, and move on. Don't yield to the seductive pull of self-pity. Acting like a victim threatens your future. ~ Source Unknown Our fate, whatever it is to be, will be overcome by patience under it. ~ Virgil

Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will. ~ Jawaharial Nehru
Go for it now. The future is promised to no one. ~ Wayne Dyer 'Tis better to buy a small bouquet And give to your friend this very day, Than a bushel of roses white and red To lay on his coffin after he's dead. ~ Author Unknown
holy cow woman... I didn't see your ditch story until just now. Glad you came out of it okay! I've got a tons of sliding on ice/ending up in ditches stories. I drove a firebird for 5 years (not exactly a snowbird vehicle ). One time, I did a series of 360's down the middle of a 2 lane highway while the car in front of me and the one behind me did the same thing. It was kind of like a ballet in it's beauty... especially considering none of us plowed into each other or ended up wrapped around a light pole. I think I did say "Jesus, take the wheel!" for that one... I let go and just "enjoyed" the ride.
Someone finds salvation in everyone, another only pain Someone tries to hide himself, down inside himself he prays Someone swears his true love until the end of time Another runs away, separate or united, healthy or insane And to be yourself is all that you can do, yeah ~ Chris Cornell
Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself. ~ Og Mandino Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.~ Carl Jung
When you realize how perfect everything is, you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky. ~ Buddha
When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap. ~ Cynthia Heimel A man profits more by the sight of an idiot than by the orations of the learned ~ Arabian Proverb
