Same as it always is..... Punish the millions of us law abiding firearm owners for the hellish deeds of the few criminals that this administration doesn't seem to want to control. I am fed up with at all anymore. But mark my words.... If a single Gen-Z'r had to surrender one single freedom because one of their ilk stepped out of line.... Damn if we would never hear the end of it.

Oh, do you see people upset? Virtually the only reaction from the left I've seen has been positive

Hardly. The left is frothing at the mouth over this and exclaiming that the conviction is going to affect Joe briden's campaign, its election interference, its the end of democracy and that it was Republicans who pushed the "phony" laptop story that started all of this (yes, they're still calling the laptop "phony").

    Geeez, liberals. Calm down.

Not that this has anything to do with Hunter, but it's funny nevertheless because of all the frothing at the mouth these stupid liberals are doing about anything and everything:

The frothing began with President briden himself and has worked its way down the ladder among all his storm troopers in the dumbocrat party. Listen, I know liberals are upset about this but, hey, no one is above the law.

Biden reportedly blames re-election bid for Hunter's conviction: 'He would have gotten the plea deal'

Hunter Biden was found guilty on all counts of violations of federal gun law on Tuesday

    June 12, 2024

President Biden reportedly blamed his re-election campaign for his son Hunter Biden's conviction on federal gun charges, as the chief executive worries that his political career has put a spotlight on his family.

"If I weren’t running for re-election, he would have gotten the plea deal," Biden reportedly told a person close to him earlier this month, Politico reported Tuesday. The younger Biden's initial plea deal fell apart in July 2023.

Well wait just a second..... Wasn't the boy offered a plea deal a year ago but was too arrogant to take it?

Of course he was. He thought he was immune because of his daddy. But, even his daddy's not immune.

Show me one article with that narrative from a major outlet. Overwhelming the sentiment I'm seeing is "justice was served"

Well, of course justice was served! Even the rabid dogs on the Left can't deny that justice was served. The chip-off-the-old-block got justice served to him in a cold dish. He's as guilty as can be. This was a proper trial with a proper judge and a proper jury. But, it doesn't keep the Lefties from frothing at their mouths. Stupid liberals.

Now, there are rumors that the White House (or, more appropriately, Joe briben himself) may consider a commutation of sentence. In this case, justice was served. Lefties need to get over it and move on. No commutations. Now, I certainly hope that the Big Guy himself is next to receive criminal charges which will have to wait until he's no longer president, but that will happen next January.

These stupid liberals don't realize that you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. They started all this nonsense so it's going to be fun to see them hoisted on their own petard.

So no examples of the "frothing" you're imagining?

No "imagining". I'm just not going to do your work for you. Look it up yourself; it's really not that difficult unless you're computer illiterate.

No, name one law that keeps criminals from breaking the law. This is a law that gun grabbers endorse, but is rarely enforced. The left needs to quit electing left wing DA’s that just let criminals go.
Enforcement of ALL of the present firearm laws, prosecution (which is rare) to the fullest extent. Only then can anti 2nd amendment folks have standing for any new laws.

They obviously work, why even have laws otherwise? Do you not believe they're a deterrent?

This picture comes to mind when I see "criminals don't follow the law":

    Screenshot_20240616_064409_Chrome.jpg

This plane represents common places bullet holes were found in returning WW2 planes. The story goes that military engineers took the above diagram and proposed adding protection to the places their planes were most commonly being shot. However, statistician Abraham Wald pointed out that this only accounted for planes that returned safely, and therefore you should actually reinforce everywhere that wasn't marked by this diagram. It's a case of survivorship bias.

The point is, looking only at the cracks in the system can give you a false impression of what does and doesn't work. Let's take a common example: speeding. Speed laws save countless lives, but would most people follow a speed suggestion instead of law? I doubt it, you can already get honked at for trying to go exactly the speed limit. Therefore, criminalizing excessive speed is a law followed by otherwise would be "criminals" that is effective and saves lives.

Writing the above section also made me realize we need to agree on the basic function of laws. Do they A. Attempt to keep people safe? Or B. Attempt to punish lawbreakers? I'd argue A is the goal, but it sounds a bit like your goal is to punish, is that correct?
