So why wouldn't Trump condemn white supremacy when Chris Wallace laid it out on a plate for him? Any idea? My theory is that he doesn't want to lose their support.
That raised my eyebrow at the time. Now that I have heard it played over, I wonder if he even heard the question through his own barrage of words. If he did hear the question and did fail to acknowledge the question with an answer, that is a deal breaker for me.
Because his bread and butter is catering to racists. he blows his dogwhistle through a bullhorn and any decent person can hear it
The most striking line, after being asked if he would tell white supremacists and right wing militia groups to "stand down" was: "proud boys, stand back and stand by. But I'll tell you what, I'll tell you what, somebody's got to do something about Antifa and the left" So basically he's telling them to carry on. A much better answer would be to condemn all of them and reiterate his faith in the police to handle it. Last I checked, vigilantism doesn't fit into "law and order"
I don't think Trump really cares what a group thinks or does as long as they support him. Trump would gladly welcome the support of NABLA if the group gave a full-throated endorsement on video while molesting immigrant boys on a church altar. He is just that transactional. This might sound like obvious exaggeration but I really couldn't rule it out.
Trump did not refer to white supremacist as "very fine people". Here's the source, unedited, do your research and watch the whole clip. https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4811891/user-clip-trumps-very-fine-people-quote Here's the follow-up https://www.factcheck.org/2020/02/trump-has-condemned-white-supremacists/
I don't know where you are coming from here. Trump clearly says, "You had people, very fine people, on both sides" about 40 seconds in. How can you possibly twists this otherwise? The Unite the Right rally was a white supremacist and neo-Nazi rally that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, from August 11 to 12, 2017. How did Trump NOT refer to white supremacists and neo-Nazis as "very fine people"?
I'm loath to admit it but if you keep watching he does eventually walk it back and claim there were people there who were only defending their statues and not with the neo-nazis that he's referring to. He's done plenty of other bad things since, like aligning himself with the proud boys last night, that is better to focus on
He may have tried to walk it back after it left his lips but he did say it. To say that he didn't say it is just plain false. You don't get to Un-ring that bell just because you blurted out something stupid. We have the tape.
He heard the question because Biden repeated it to Trump and got the same non-response the moderator got. Trump heard the question.
And BTW... Sep 4, 2020 - Politics & Policy Over 190 law enforcement officials endorse Biden Ursula Perano Photo: Alex Wong/Getty Images Over 190 law enforcement officials on Friday endorsed Joe Biden for president, per a campaign statement. Why it matters: The endorsements rebut a theme of the Trump re-election campaign, which has falsely claimed that Biden wants to defund the police. Both candidates this week traveled to Kenosha, Wisconsin to address the shooting of Jacob Blake. Biden called for officers involved to be charged while Trump cracked down on protests that had turned violent. It's a blow to Trump, who's sought to brand himself as the law-and-order candidate. What they're saying: "Joe Biden has always stood on the right side of the law and is offering a much needed vision for our Nation. When asked the question, would you feel safe in Joe Biden’s America? The answer is yes," said Tom Manger, Retired Chief and former President of the Major Cities Chiefs Association. "President Trump failed to protect America so now he is trying to scare America. I talk to law enforcement officers here in Arizona and all across the country: and none of them believe there will be less violence in America if Donald Trump is re-elected,” said former Republican Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods. The big picture: Biden continues to lead Trump in the polls by a significant-but-not-insurmountable margin just two months before Election Day.
He means that lawlessness and disorder don't fit into law and order. Captain Obvious hadn't said anything in a while I guess.
While we conservatives support the right of protesters to demonstrate without interference, you not only don't criticize the rioters, you almost seem to endorse their breaking of the law.
That is hardly a ringing endorsement for your candidate. Of course, we all know that you are voting for Harris for President anyway. As long as Biden can stand, utter a few words and has his Depends on when he goes out in public, he’s doing great. He condemned the White supremist groups twice. Listen to the trapes or read the transcript. This is same BS question the left-wing media keeps asking. Wallace should have asked Biden if he was going to ask Black Lives Matter to cool it. Atifia does not exist according the Book of Biden. Those who have had Atifia kick the snot out of them have all been having “Biden moments” according to Biden. And, yes, Chris Wallace is part of the left-wing media. He showed his colors when he asked that question. It’s far from the first time. He probably wants a job with his daddy’s old employer, CBS. They could use his “objective analysis” since their news ratings are in the tank with Nora O’Donnell and the rest of their “news stars,” like Scott Pelly and Leslie Stall, getting old enough for retirement.
