This is exactly why in a democracy you don't give away your civil liberties to the government even if they try to scare you with the "Boggie-Islam" man. Once they have the power to abuse your rights, they will use it. Ruin ? The one thing that who ever is running the government knows is, what ever befalls us will in kind do the same to them. They do have a vested interest in our survival, and theirs. Bickering , lies, half truths etc. are part, and parcel ,of what ALL politicians do. Also keeping all money in their bid for another term if they fail or retire is their retirement fund. Add corruption, and other things we know little about and politics probably pays better then most really good fortune 500 companies. They really like the idea of keeping us busy with our own agendas that we consider inportant, but divide us enough that we get little traction on our issues. Where we meet and find common ground, will be the time more of what the people need will happen. The one thing that is inconsistant is the large agencies spend little time talking with each other and sharing information. That could be a loop hole that looks to be very dangerous. Their areas of knowledge is kept to themselves for many reasons . I am not sure how that benifits the average citizen . Possibly home Land defense is making an attempt to quell this but from the FBI report of today they missed the mark. My opinion only, I speak for no others.
You're right, instead we should petition to be allowed to kill the terrorists in our country and deport the illegals purselves. No sense in letting the government do it anymore
You see, when I start talking about civil libeties, the conversation immediately turns to terrorism threats. They have you guys running scared and afraid of your own shadows. Civil liberties prevent your own government from becoming the terrorists and you are willing to hand them over out of fear to the people that would use them against you if they could and just did. I guess there is no talking sense to people that live in such fear they can't rationally see what is right in front of them. Terrorism is a threat that Europeans have lived with for far longer than we have and they haven't caved into the fear in fact, the British have reacted sanely to repeated bombings by the IRA with calm and poise. You scared little rabbits should try to emulate their fine example instead of believing what you are told by an out of control fanatical administration. I can't imagine what your allegiance to this paradigm of fear and further government control is but imagine that your perception of events were portrayed in a movie and you were sitting in a theater watching this movie. Would you actually sympathize with the characters that represent your attitude or would you root for the ones that rose above their fears to triumph in the face of overwhelming adversity? The point is that terrorism does exist and could even possibly harm us at some point is the future. Running scared will only empower our enemies and embolden those that seek to assert more control over a free society. If you happen to be unwilling to consider what I have said here and want to live as you are in fear and uncertainty, you will reap all the benefits of that choice while I go about living my life free of the burdens that cloud your thoughts. Yes we have had terrorist attacks here for many years and we dont get to over excited by it (whats the point) but on the other hand we dont deny our security services the right to phone taps we understand that security is sometimes a hard necesity.
