I saw on the news the other day a guy in some place like Iowa who was a farmer, they were asking him about the election and he said he was voting for McCain because he didn't want to see America turn socialist. I found that funny. Now this particular farmer may not receive subsidies...who knows...there are successful farmers out there who do not receive subsidies... But I cant think of anything more socialist than sharing the wealth by taking my money and 'sharing the wealth' with farmers. Its an odd little system where we pay people for failing to making a living. These people are often very large land owners who get paid millions to fail. Now without doubt there ARE farms that are able to succeed and make money growing what they grow. There was a report on it a while back where they showed farmers growing different crops they could make money on. Then there was another farmer being paid millions to farm cotton. Now he cant make a profit, he cant even break even farming cotton but we pay him to continue doing it...otherwise there wont be cotton grown in the US!!! The guy said he MUST grow cotton, he couldnt even THINK of changing what he grows as his family has grown cotton for generations!!! So we all have to share our wealth with him and he sees nothing wrong with it...it is welfare. Want to make the US less socialist and cut spending? stop paying farmers to grow things they cant make a living growing...apparently there are a wide range of things farmers in the US can grow and still make a profit growing...we dont need to support people to fail in business...oh wait...700 billion okayed by both parties says I am wrong I guess.
