Drusus, I understand completely your reluctance to stay immersed in the mud in the political section. You, Cloudy, Adam, and a few others would prefer to discuss topics and your opinions on them without the childish name calling, abusive language and complete intolerance of any opposing viewpoint that jwevansv, olddan, Midas, and several others go out their way to inject into otherwise civil conversations. Olddan thrives on the controversy and for no other reason than thinking he is morally superior. I'd resort to praying if I thought I would ever reach his age and be that pathetic. I'd seriously consider taking one of my coveted guns and blow my own head off. When he can't come up with anything he thinks will make people angry enough to jump into the mud with him, he changes someone's text and posts it as their quote. How desperate is that, nobody else here has to do that but him. He is a very sad case indeed and deserves no apology for first dragging you down and then insulting your wife. You notice he never mentions his but never misses an opportunity to pretend he actually knows something about yours and exercises his hate of women. My guess is that his wife left him quite a while ago and for good reasons. Now he hate all women and feels justified in insulting other's wifes. What sad pathetic old man who spends his final years attacking others when he should be at a point where he is sharing years of gathered wisdom. I guess you actually have to have it to share it. Age isn't always rewared with wisdom and he is proof. I learned to ignore him a long time ago. I only respond to his posts if I have nothing else to do and even then I don't invest anything in responding to his veral barbs. I don't care what he thinks and nothing he can say is of any value. This hasn't thickened my skin towards others, just in regard to him. Disregard him and he will fade away. Don't let him drive a person with a decent intellect and good opinions away only to be replaced by screaming, childish, intellectually void, thoughtless, brain-dead posters like himself. Just put him on your ignore list. Has he contributed anything that you couldn't have missed? He's got nothing and it would lock him out of the ability to stir-up bad air and that would drive him nuts. Speaking of nuts, you might want to add jwevansv to the list first off and then Midas. They've already said everything they have and now they are saying it again for the umpteenth time. If you've heard it already, why listen to it again. From this point on, all three are blocked from my view. You will find doing the same very liberating. There is nothing a big mouth likes less than being ignored. I suggest Cloudy, AdamL, Drusus, and even Danr put those three on the ignore list as soon as you are done reading this. It will calm things down considerably believe me.
It is wrong to attack others personally, especially here where we all have at least one thing in common. However, attacking politics is something else entirely and you probably shouldn't block someone just because of their views. Limiting yourself is never good. Even though there are those of you I dislike intensely at times I have never blocked anyone, and probably won't even if they have attacked me personally (oh yeah, at least one has since I joined)
More crying from our liberal appeasing socialist on staff...boo hoo! That's right...if you believe in the individual over the government, you are a "nut" and if you believe in defeating "true" islam as mohammad designed, well shame on me! I hope you remember this statement from the chairman of the 9/11 Commission. He said that not only is another islamic terrorist attack on the United States possible, it is probable. That's strong language. It's the difference between someone telling you that you "might" be involved in a traffic accident today, or that you "probably" will be in a wreck. The threat is there, but appeasers like Moen don't seem to understand it. Appeasers like Moen are more worried about how much the government can seize from other citizens and hand over to them then they are how government can protect them from the threat of islamic terrorism. Becuase of socialist appeasrs like Moen, we are in trouble. The threat is high. I'm just having a difficult time figuring out who presents a greater threat to our country, islamic terrorists or stupid liberal American voters who believe in the government (gimmee-gimmee-gimmee), socialism, and income redistribution? So here we are and what has been done to stop these bloodthirsty islamic bass-turds from doing this again? Zippo. All we've heard for years is how President Bush has gone too far in protecting the country and of course, all the endless reports about the supposed "abuse" of islamic animals at prisons like Abu Ghraib. Al-Qaeda was and is in Afghanistan, they are also in Iraq, they are also around the world....these are the people that orchestrated the largest single terrorist attack on American soil in our history. Do we have the will to fight? Not according to the media, the socialist french poodles and assorted other worthless liberals. They say we should turn our security over to the UN, Russia, France and Germany and handle it like a police action! Yeah...there are huge differance in the political landscape. The only differance is that I will NEVER sugarcoat my beliefs because I know I am right on these politcal subjects of tax policy and the war against islamic animals.
As Ron Paul correctly pointed out, the US cannot expect to undertake continuous foreign military operations without someone eventually fighting back. This is the reason why the traditional and patriotic US policy of never initiating military action until attacked worked for nearly two centuries. Our current president has followed a foreign policy that has enabled a couple of thousand fanatics in the mountains of central Asia to emerge as a world-wide powerful military threat. Bush and Rice have quoted UN resolutions countless times as justification for attacking a nation that was never a threat to the US in the name of fighting terrorists who were not in Iraq at the time our attack was launched. They and their supporters are the ones who are turning over our foreign policy to the UN and other internationalist organizations. Bush can stand in front of the flag on TV, but it doesn't make him a patriot. Hopefully, Americans will recapture their government in the next election from these globalists who wish to use the US military as their instrument of power. It won't be easy, as the last election demonstrated. American citizens thought they were electing a Congress to end the war, but found that even the newly elected members of Congress were bought and paid for before they even took their oath of office. And also keep in mind that those who talk of appeasement are the enemies of peace and the real enemies of our country.
I agree with you completely. I've never had a problem with hearing opposing views from anyone. I do have a problem with the childish name calling, mindless labeling, endless rants that serve no purpose whatsoever, bored individuals that entertain themselves by trying to goad others, and denunciatory or abusive language that drags the whole forum down to their level. It's just a level of immaturity that deserves the ignore function. I believe that they resort to this behavior because they are unable to support their convictions rationally but have a moral character flaw that doesn't allow them to see themselves as anything but right. Whatever gives rise to their dysfunctional attitudes are unimportant to me, I just don't care to be assaulted with their abusive tactics. They will remain blocked by me until they don't get the responses they crave and go somewhere else to get off. They add nothing to this forum and only seek to pleasure themselves by trying to make everyone as miserable as they are. Who needs opinions from people like that?
No, because of hot heads like you we are in trouble. Rational thinkers like Moen keep us out of trouble.
yeah, I dont mind heated debate...and aside from some crusaders with one track minds saying the same thing over and over and over again (like we see in this thread)...many here seem to be able to discuss a variety of subjects like adults...it is the mindless name calling and tactics such as character assassination, taking a snippet and then accusing the person of all kinds of unsavory affiliations and just making stuff up that gets truly old...I know its the internet and should be taken with a grain of salt but it gets real old and accomplishes nothing, a waste of time...insinuating people are gay, terrorists, whatever...its just transparent tripe...I'm not looking for people to stop bashing each other, just saying I have better things to do, other forums where people can get into heated discussions and still not fling crap, labels, and insults...they are expected to keep things on topic, respect those they are choosing to engage, act like adults. I dont have to read a post by Midas, Aiden, Evans or Danr...I can post for them they are so predictable, several here are just that 2 dimensional and predictable and through their actions they do a fine job on their own of letting people know they arent worth responding to...you just roll your eyes and move on..they arent the problem...its just an overall lack of respect for each other from those who I see are on a different level that I have contributed to that is distasteful to me and I saw myself starting to think 'hey, if they do it to me, why not just do it to them?' and thats not the right way to approach it.... I will still read as there are some people I think who can discuss things with, even those I dont agree with often times...I agree with cloudsweeper a lot of times but other times I have completely disagreed with him but I dont remember him ever insulting me for my views, just countering them...thats the only sort of exchange I want. When it just becomes a broken record and people are just bickering and attacking each other, I will attempt to follow the stoic approach, keep my reason, remove emotion, and through reason realize there is nothing needed from me...
I think it would be great to have an opt-in only moderator. Someone that just filters out personal attacks, bad language or disrespectful and abusive posts in the opt-in sections only. It would force people to discuss topics more calmly and rid us of fanatical behavior. I think even the screams would eventually see the benefit if they bothered to stick around. Hey Peter! How about appointing an opt-in moderator? We are due for some changes in this area. :thumb:
Then just opt out if you can't handle it...it is why liberals are pushing for the "fairness" doctrine because they know they can win in the arena of logic, rational, and ideas. Want to protect yourself from islamic terrorism? Oh dear me...that is extreme! Believe in the individual over the government in all aspects of our life? Oh dear me, that is extreme too! Let's call in a moderator to make it "fair".
There is no justification in islam for infidels defending themselves against "true" muslims. We are supposed to take it. When we don't take it, and start fighting back, then the muslim world and the appeasers here at CT call it a "war on islam," or being insensitive, a "nut" or whatever term they can muster. Meanwhile the jihad continues... Happy??
I wouldn't have expected the problem to recognize the solution. If people want to quote those I have blocked, please do the, "I think you're all a bunch of... ...and you smell like one too!" when quoting them for those of us that don't care to see what they've written. No use posting their stupidity twice after all. I'd appreciate it anyway. Thanks.
You actually read the village idiot's posts? Is he still learning how to formulate a complete sentence? I never seen him post anything more than 2 or 3 sentences, much less an actual paragraph! Why? There is no doubt his liberal socialist appeasing brain shuts down if he tries to articulate a rational point. He just can't do it. Wait...here comes a picture. I guess he still has to read books with pictures in them.
I'd rather not have a moderator for this forum. The occasional insults aren't taken personally and are sometimes funny. But I promise to try to be better in the future to help clean the place up.
what is that old saying about people who live in glass houses? Gosh, I hope this isn't something Moron objects to, or he will be calling Peter again. Actually I'm surprised that he called for Peter! I thought that his wife took care of all his battles for him.
I wasn't patient enough to read most of the long posts in this thread. I'll just say this: Moen, I understand your point completely. And, although I don't plan to put anyone on my ignore list, jwevsansv, or whatever his name is will not get any attention from me. I may disagree with the other guys you mentioned, but I have certain amount of respect for their opinions. Mr. Angry though, he's just not worth paying attention to.
You have more tolerance for their BS than I have or I have just been exposed to it longer than you have. Each of us has to make their own decision about who they can stand and act accordingly. Jwevansv may be the loudest and most obnoxious but after you've listened to Midas label everyone as a typical Liberal and Old-DUNG throw verbal barbs at anyone just to entertain himself, you soon realize that they have nothing to contribute and pretty soon the phrase "broken record" echoes in your head non-stop. You'll notice they haven't blocked me. That's only because they thrive on the discord they crave to insert into every thread. Blocking me would close off one avenue they see as a possible target for their childish immature game. I defy any or all of them to put me on their ignore list. They won't do it because they need an enemy to rail against. Unfortunately for them, I don't.
