Do you think?

If priests were allowed to get married do you think that there would be less of the priests that are having sexual or molesting relations with young boys? I do think that it would lessen it a lot.

 

I think that total sexual abstinence is not a natural, normal or healthy condition for the vast majority of people. Certainly, there are probably people who can be non-sexual in nature their entire lives but it doesn't seem like the priesthood is completely filled with those types, that is for sure.

 

Yes you are right about the sexual abstinence part. It is hard and no the priesthood is not filled with all those people. Sure abstinence is part of a life for some people but it is apparent that others can not handle it.

 

I would agree with your point of view.

 

To me it just makes sense to let priests marry. Then we would hopefully not have to worry about going through all of this.

 

The market will probably resolve it.

 

There should be nothing religiously wrong with priests getting married. To devote one's life to god, doesn't mean one cannot have a life of their own.
A long lasting, healthy marriage, could only make a priests' life better.

 

You are so true. I think that marriage for a priest would make the life better.

 

It would make things better for everyone concerned and there has been a call for the Pope to dew just that but it won't happen until the time is right, however, that time is drawing near.
