I don't believe that doctors do give lethal injections. It's against their hippocratic oath.

I would hope that this question could spur a conversation about the relationship between service and faith and perhaps other deep questions. I am not trying to be offensive.

The bible excuses killing if necessary but it is pretty liberally interpreted to mean anytime you damn well feel like it. The only relationship between military service and faith is a contrived symbiosis that works to the convenience of both institutions. It helps recruit true believers for the military and reinforces mythical beliefs in a higher power for those that push faith not to mention the elimination of rival faiths. It is a match (forgive the pun) made in heaven. The inconsistencies between killing and believing are easily ignored and we end up the a highbred beast namely "The Army of God". Faith-based armies are the most effective and have consistently triumphed throughout history over armies that are merely defending their lands and freedoms. Killing for God is one hell of a motivation don't ya think?

If you kill someone who invades your home, Danr, or if you take the life of someone who is threatening someone else's life, will you have to give an account? What if you take someone's life negligently while driving intoxicated?

I suppose we'll know the answer when we meet our maker.

Most Christians are Catholic (or the cult of Rome as our friend calls us) and we go by church teaching more than the Bible, the church teaching on war is that it is ok to fight in a "just war". Our current war is not approved of by the church.

A very strange topic and conversation for our CoinTalk Atheist's to be having. What difference does it make to them?

Old Dan isnt saying he's an atheist. He is saying anyone one who isnt of his faith is an athiest. Because thats what GOOD Americans believe. If your superiors order you to kill and you think that order is unjust you can refuse. If you are in a firefight and you kill someone, in theory youre forgiven. But I guess you better hope that God considers it a just war.

    He also said:

"I will deal with them according to their conduct, and by their own standards I will judge them ."

I used to be Catholic too, but then I gave it up for Lent. Boy were they p***ed off with me after that. I tried going to confession to cleanse myself of the sin of giving up Catholicism but they refused to give me any penance that would cover my deed. As a last rersort, I tried to take communion at mass but they had a problem with type wine I brought and something about the quantity or something. Catholicism and I just didn't work out for some reason.
