Would you mind explaining just what you fetish is with us "old and white" guys? Are we not supposed to count or so we just count less than your friends - whatever they may be?

 

The most dangerous thing about guys like Beck is that most of the people who listen to him think his main interest is the content of his speech. In reality, he is simply an entertainer and the truth will always be secondary to ratings in his priorities.

 

Do you think that he even thinks about or cares that there are people out there that take his words as truth? In other words, does he bear any responsibility for any adverse consequences that may occur from his "entertainment"? To me anyway, he seems pretty damn irresponsible.

Same could be said about BO or any other politician or partisan commentator, huh?

 

The same could be said about my 10-year old neighbor but that simply deflects the question. Beck has a nationally syndicated radio and television show. My 10-year old neighbor does not. Beck is in a unique position to influence people and seems to do so without regard for the consequences of his words. He uses some pretty extreme language others in positions of power simply do not use language as wrecklessly as Beck. That is not even disputed by Beck himself.

You asked what numbers have to do with anything. I told you what I thought. Now I'm in league with Beck. Brother do you have that wrong. I think he is ratings monger. Crying on TV because he love this country so much. What a dip. Some people fall for that crap. If he became more popular for leaning to the left, then he'd do that. But you cant argue with the amount of people who showed up for his rally.

Yeah, so what's your point? Commentators, "contributors", politicians, "experts", your neighbor kid next door- all have their own agenda & various platforms by which to deliver their message. How is Beck any different than any of those?

By the way, just to switch gears, what have been some of Beck's dangerous or inciteful comments? I haven't read any of his books or watched his show...all I have seen are snippets here & there and I can't say I've heard much from him that I would call controversial.

 

I have had a cpl days to surf his " Insider Extreme " Website.....as a paying customer. I watched his television archives a bit and his radio transcripts are given daily.

Interesting guy. I like his message, but his TV show is over the top....we dont need a chalkboard, we are adults......Kids are watching the Cartoon channel and MTV, Mr Beck.....get it a bit more adult like would ya?

Ok, He has exposed some dirt and debunking him on many things will be difficult. Several points are crap.

His audience isn't meant to be scholars, people of reason, or thinkers of any kind. His target audience is mostly those who need to be told what to think, those who hear the word God or Country and automatically genuflect without hesitation. In other words, the sheeple of society not the people. Beck is not a stupid man, he knows how to connect with this ilk and using Nazi props and chalkboards is exactly the right approach to influence the weak of mind. Pepper in a few popular patriotic ideas and the rest is accepted without question. It is amazing that there are people actually that dumb but Beck certainly has cornered the market on them.

Beck always ends his show with this disclaimer:

"Dont believe me.....do your own research, DONT believe me...........I get paid to do this"

I found that kind of refreshing. Actually, I forgot he was white for about an hour.

So, dr moen, I'll ask again- How is Beck any different than any other commentator or politician? They each use their various forums to connect with their audience and get their message out, right?

 

I have seen many liberal talk show hosts say the same thing. My guess is that Beck either knows or doesn't care that his audience doesn't actually go out and do their own research. I'm not sure how you research opinions anyway and Beck is mostly known for his personal opinions. He throws some piece of history out there about Nazis, or Stalin, or communists that is probably true and then makes an inference that really isn't researchable. So he is pretty safe saying "do your own research".

I will bet those "old white people" in Beck's audience do 100 times the research as your friends - and apparently you do.
