Did you hear this one? Kucinich claims he purchased a sandwich at the House cafe and bit into an olive pit, now he's suing for $150,000!!
This is exactly the sort of bull that is targeted when frivilous lawsuits are discussed.

Yeah, Dennis Kucinich is an idiot.

Wall street bailouts were frivilous too but that was mandatory. 150K is a drop in the bucket comparatively. Who cares. That's what the corporate creep who hired the guy who put the olive pit in his sandwich gets for not bucking up, and hiring someone who gave a s*it whether pits were in there or not. But the pencil pushers thought they could save a buck hiring the minimum wage shift worker, so hey, you get what you pay for. Just a 'business decision".

So, if I hear you correctly, an elected politician suing for $150,000 simply because he bit into an olive pit is okay? You support this type of lawsuit?

Does he get free dental care?

So far as I am aware, they get the entire kit and caboodle free. Maybe someone will prove me wrong, but that is my impression.

Then I'd be curious what he is suing for. Pain and suffering? I'd also be curious as to the 'who' of who he is suing. Is the 'House Cafe' taxpayer funded?

Oh, boy! My vague recollection is that the house is privately run, but supported. That is a long time ago memory, but I am pretty sure the house and senate are run differently.

For his sake, I hope it doesn't get a dime of taxpayer money. I would think it would be, ummmm, politically dicey to sue someplace that receives taxpayer money in this day and age. lol

This happened 3 years ago and he was appearing on tv within days- how bad could it have been, really? Kucinich is an example of everything that is wrong in our country....making a killing on the backs of others.

It's just a by product of the markets Davey. You take away or further limit the ability to sue, and make it a better "business decision" to just let whoever sue for whatever, then, you can rest assured that's exactly what they'll do. Paying for frivelous lawsuits is no different than corporate mergers chopping the heads off of people's futures, LITERALLY. The right says "it just business" and they continue to swallow people's lives for EXTRA profit. For MORE. That's the cost of "doing business". F'n A. Sue the piss out of them whenever you get the chance to. Tell ya what. You goofs on the right straighten out the way your party looks at "doing business", and maybe somebody on the left would advocate not suing at the drop of a hat. That's life pal. That's your capitalist system at work. Enjoy.

Tom, it frightens me that you mingle freely with the populace. Either that or you're committed to an asylum with very lax security of their internet access. I suspect the latter.

Well, if we can get a republican in the White House, I'm sure they'd sign legislation to fulfill your wishes of anyone mingling freely if you sent them a check. Patriot Act 3 perhaps.

Seriously how can you think that an olive pit is worth that much money? I swear some people are just way to sue happy. If you want to sue, do it over something that really and truly matters. Not an olive pit!

See, here's the difference: This is a real example of someone trying to get over at the expense of others. The argument you drudge up is nothing more than your delusional perspective.

I read today that Kucinich "settled" his lawsuit today....terms were not disclosed.

Interesting. You don't think corporate "business" gets over on anybody at the expense of others? Delusional perhaps, but I see little difference in cashing in on someone's misfortune or someone's else's misfortune. Both are equally manipulative and both morally equal. One way cashes in at the expense of others and the other cashes in at the expense of someone else. One form of corrupted morality or another....both pretty similar IMO.
