I guess we weren't in dire straights like Obama claimed if he can spend this much money on pet projects. That's alright Bender. We will crawl out of this hole little by little after the Republicans gain the back the Senate. Your welcome.
Hmm, I'm looking over that alleged wasteful list.. Here's one that caught my eye It is wastefull to produce more livestock? It is wasteful to produce more food? Honey Bee's? Honey Bee's do a helluva lot more then just make honey and are a very important eco species . DUHH !! [ame= - Honey Bee Population Dying Out[/ame] . .
Ever watch 60 minutes? Part 1 [ame= - 60 Minutes: Why Are Honeybees Disappearing? Pt. 1[/ame] Part 2 [ame= - 60 Minutes: Why Are Honeybees Disappearing? Pt 2[/ame] . .
What's your point? I have never said that some of the stuff might be worthy causes, but they don't belong in an emergency bill designed to stimulate the economy. If they are worthy, they should be put in a normal, non emergency bill, that can be debated in committee and voted on. Not shoved in an emergency bill as more pork.
Here's yet another alleged pork obstructionist complaint. Gee, a program where we put teenagers to work being useful. Yeah, total pork there. It's better we as parents give them an allowance each week. Yeah, good thinking "DADDY WARBUCKS". Cut that "PORK" out. . .
I don't think some temporary summer jobs for teenagers is a big factor in helping the economy. All this is, is a payoff to New York state. http://justbs.us/on-topic-bs/17523-more-liberal-logic.html#post47161
I can't watch the videos here at work but I got to agree with Bender on the honey bees. We are in a agriculture crises because of the bees. Protecting these bees protect a lot of jobs.
What I'm saying is, this money will go to research on what is causing the honey bee decline. The stimulus is supposed to be for an immediate jump start to the economy. Honey bee research doesn't do that. Is it meaningful? Yes. Immediately stimulutive? No. Put it in a normal bill, not an emergency bill.
Nevermind. Chuck Schumer says we don't care if they load up legislation with "pork". [ame=""]YouTube - Schumer: The American People Don't Care About Pork Projects In Stimulus[/ame] What an arrogant, ignorant, liberal, arse.
Exactly! That's where all of our money is at and still going, to Iraq! Money that we need and don't have for ourselves. Why did we bomb the crap out of them just to rebuild? They hate our guts anyways. They can rebuild themselves, they have the resources. They have an almost 80 BILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS! While we on the other hand, are in debt, near (if not in) depression and pretty much China's bitch. But nooo, Bush did an excellent job and dumps all of this mess on someone else and all you people do is complain at every thing Obama attemps to do to fix this mess. Unbelievable...
Spending money on roads projects, doesn't create jobs. It creates temporary work. When the project is done, the job is gone. As for the surplus you are talking about, it's a lie. It was a projection of what Iraq might have by the end of 2008, made in August, when oil was $140. At $40 a gallon, Iraq is hurting just like Russia, Venezuela and Mexico are.
It most definitely not only creates, but maintains jobs. The roads don't build themselves. There are always roads and structures that need fixing. So no, the job is never done. According to the Government Acountability Office between 2005 & 2007 Iraq accumulated more than 29 billion dollars in surplus after expenditures. This is no lie or projection.
So in effect, you agree with me that it doesn't meet the goal of the stimulus to be timely, targeted and temporary as both Pres Obama and Larry Summers has said. This is never ending government spending. Also, just because there is another job, it doesn't mean the company you work for will get the project, or there will be one in your area. You said $80 billion in surplus. It also doesn't take into account that after their economy was destroyed they need that surplus to be kept in their reserve bank to keep their system from collapsing. They can't spend it or their currency would be worthless. It's not a liquid surplus.
So according to this poster, the answer is clear... TAX THE RICH MORE. Look at the lower right corner. A 4.2% TAX ON THE RICHEST 1% = $700 BILLION PROBLEM SOLVED !!
Sure, If you want is to accomplish is the stuff in the poster and cause more people to lose their jobs.
Man, just look at all this PORK going to Nebraska Stimulus Watch: Keeping an Eye on Economic Recovery Spending $380,458,530 worth !! . .
Most of it is just sickening. I wonder how they know this, since they haven't released the bill yet. Hmm.
