Yes. And in excess of standard production benchmarks.

    Example:

    Cast of characters:
Stan - future homeowner caught between bank mortgage officer's
deadline, a sold farm, an oversubscribed builder, and an anxious wife,
has small dozer and tractor with backhoe but no flatbed to transport.
Stan's wife - project supervisor, beer manager, coffee maker, head
    chef (she cooks real good).
Fred: Stan's friend and electrical contractor with lots of
    connections.
Pete: Industrial masonry contractor - 12 ft form boards and rebar
    work only.
    Bruce: Lawyer, Fred's hunting buddy.
Arnie: General contractor (framing and finish carpentry mostly)
Dave: Roofer. Hyper. Lucky to get one week out of a ladder.
Chuck: Cement mixer truck guy what Pete knows real good so he can be
talked into doing a pour on a weekend. .
Bunch of miscellaneous guys with toolz and skillz and trucks and
trade licenses and stuff who will do most anything for *Special*
    sauce.

    Ingredients:
Pile of building materials already paid for by Stan's deposit.
Land with cleared building site (bought and paid for already) but with
no cellar hole or utility hookups.
    *Special* sauce ingredients.
    Lots of chickens
    A pig or two
Cabbage and potatoes and mayonaise and such.
275 gallon oil tank cut in half
A pile of well aged hardwood.
Diesel oil for the dozer and the backhoe and a big-ass generator.
    Building permit.
    Architect stuff.

    Plot:
Stan ordered (by Fred mostly) to call Bruce and get him to deal with
legal issues. Stan further ordered to mix up *Special* sauce, convert
chickens and pigs into 'fresh meat' and get a f*****g fire going.

Stan and his wife (with help from the kids) applied *Special* sauce to
the previously mentioned chicken and pig meat and treated with fire.

After about 7 days (ie. 3 weekends plus labor day) the chickens were no
more, nor were the pigs. The *Special* sauce was gone, the pile of
hardwood was gone, there were lots of empty beer bottles, the building
inspector had signed off the work, Stan was stuck with an unpainted but
otherwise finished house with a 10 foot deep cellar that needed some
landscaping and Bruce was sueing the hell out of the builder for
nonperformance. Plus the bank guy was cooperating.

Other examples of the relationship between *Special* sauce and s**t
happening abound. To get *Special* sauce, you have to work for it - no
    freebies.

This riveting account doesn't make it clear whether the builder was
contracted for landscaping the cellar or not.

There was no mention of rivets - you must have confused this account
with another thread in a different usenet froup.

Remember Stan? The guy with the dozer and the tractor and years of
experience moving dirt and rocks and planting stuff? As far as his wife
was concerned, he was the landscaping contractor - no need to go for
outside help. The cellar was very nice, and quite large, but I don't
recall hearing from Stan about the eventual disposition of that space.
He was an outdoors kind of guy though - maybe he put in a trout stream
or a cross country ski course.

They're pretty much on their own. A warranty won't apply to a shattered
heavy duty fiberglass ladder with 10 bent rungs.

The hole wasn't deep enough. No ladders required.
