Mein Gott, the Apocalypse has arrived. Sante Fe? I picked up my ex-wife at the Crystal bar. I was the "winner". I almost got beat to death in front of the Brass Rail by a local "gang". Even I had more class than to frequent the Bronco Bar. An Indian bashed a guy's head in with a hammer in the alley behind the Bronco. I had a black guy swish a razor in front of my nose at Bush's Place, but that's another story. The Red Garter was a main School of Mines hangout, but that is another story. I am a indeed a very light drinker to this day largely because of my two years of alcohol abuse in Rapid City. Do these other places still exist? My little slum cabin was located in downtown, right on Rapid Creek. It was removed like scum off a pond by the big flood of 1971. Fortunately, I was in northern California at the time.
Brass Rail- still here Crystal- Gone Bush's Place- Gone Red Garter- Still Here Bronco- Gone Heck, we've even got a group pushing local wines. http://www.prairieberry.com/ Man, it's changed a lot, here is another one http://www.prairieedge.com/ Bone
I almost had a stroke until I observed that the South Dakota folks were producing berry wines. Growing traditional wine grapes in the Black Hills would be an interesting undertaking. I suspect that someone will attempt to grow Reisling or Gewurtztraminer grapes some day.
A stroke, good lord we don't want that. Just to put your mind at ease I was given a bottle of Crab-Apple last year and when we opened it up for Christmas it'd turned into some pretty good vinegar B
If a women has dishonored herself and her family then she can redeem herself and her family's name by becoming a sucidial bomber. Either way a dishonored women is facing a death sentence in the arab muslim world. Be it by her own hands or by her husband, father or brother's hand.

Actually, the Danish editorial cartoon was very lame. Maybe more liberal Americans would understand the cartoon if they printed this one:
Now they've gone and done it! The University that my wife works at has a student newspaper like most Universities and yesterday they published all of the Danish cartoons. I know that there are quite a few Indian students (mostly Hindus) but I have to wonder what the backlash will be from the Muslims on campus. My wife's office is just accross the hall from the school newspaper so I hope that they limit their response to protests and not violence. I've already come up with my counter protest sign: Intolerant Savage Lethal Angry Muslims
Of course you don't know "in advance", but it has become quite obvious in the past couple of days that there is a difference between Muslims protesting in Islamic dictatorial regimes and Muslims protesting elsewhere. If you lived in a country where practically everything that appears in the media is government controlled, then you might well blame the Danish government for what is published in the Danish press - and maybe blame the US government for what is published by a US student newspaper - simply because the concept of a (fairly) free press is something you never experience in many of these countries. Besides, it is surely convenient for some Islamic governments to direct people's aggression against some "common enemy" ... In Germany we just had a few demos against those cartoons, one here in Düsseldorf with about 2,000 Muslims demonstrating. Guess what, it was a peaceful demo - and we have not had any riots about those cartoons either. Christian
We have not had any riots here either. I doubt that anyone is afraid of American police. However, radical Muslims ought to keep an eye on the quiet American public. There has been a lot of talk on the cable networks and talk-radio about illegal immigration and the massive numbers of Mexicans living in the United States. Interestingly, I have grown to be thankful every day that our southern neighbor is Mexico and not a Palestine, Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Saudi Arabia, or Iran. It is difficult to imagine what that would involve. In view of the news coming out of Europe, I think European governments have allowed far too many Muslim immigrants to enter and establish Islamic ghettos in western Europe. Give me hard-working, family-oriented, Christian, Mexicans any day.
I don't think it's quite that simple. The Muslims in Germany know of course that all those acts of violence and riots in Islamic countries, because of the cartoons and on other occasions, contribute to an increasingly bad "image" of their religion. So those who participated in the demonstration wanted to show that on one hand they find those cartoons offensive but on the other hand do not consider violence appropriate. Another example: In its Thursday evening print issue the Berlin newspaper "Der Tagesspiegel" published a cartoon that showed football players from Iran as suicide bombers. http://www.meinberlin.de/fototouren/tsp/index.php?Tour=685&Bild=0 (The cartoon also works as a link to two others which were published later.) No protests from Muslims in Germany, for two days. But then, all of a sudden, the paper received a wave of mostly English language e-mail messages including anonymous murder threats. It was obviously that those messages did not come from here. Seems that the (apparently Iranian) "readers" did not understand what the local readers understood very well - that the cartoon was part of the debate in Germany about whether the military should be involved in securing the World Cup. The cartoonist wanted to show how absurd the idea is: Would Iranian players go into the stadiums as walking bombs? Of course not. Christian
Don't discount the idea. If they could take out 80,000 infidels in one shot, they would. Why do you think security around sporting events has dramatically increased as the "religion of peace" wages their jihad war against the West?? You can thank islam for it!
Christian what would be the response of the Right wing Neo's In Germany If the muslims where to riot? De Orc
Hard to tell. Most Muslims in Germany are Turks, or Germans with a Turkish family background, who so far have been more peaceful than the immigrants from, say, Algeria or Morocco in some other European countries. But in a heated atmosphere like this, even a movie like "Valley of the Wolves" could (as in perhaps) incite violence. And while extreme right-wingers do not have much support in most of Germany, they may well try and do the same thing that some mullahs in Islamic countries do - promote such conflicts because they consider them useful.
