LOVE pizza. Ordered one Friday night to go along with my hotwings, beer, and baseball. Shrimp pesto. Man, was that good.
I would like to try those huge Alaskan crabs they catch there. I have never seen them for sale in England. In the last century, the Russian Tsar had some brought alive from the Berring Straights area, and dumped them in the sea way over on the other side of Russia. The huge crabs have no natural predators over here, and are happily munching their way south into the German Sea. They will one day be in British waters. I can't wait. I'll be taking up crab fishing.
When I win the lottery Snaf, I'll fly over and treat you to a whole big crab. I'll also bring some black pudding for you to try too..
I'm gonna try and catch some next summer. I've only tried once before and it was a total disaster. I thought I had the mother load because I couldn't pull it up. I found out later that I caught a buoy chain. LOL Never said I was the smartest fisherman. But Were gonna put out some pots and hope for the best. The main priority will be the halibut though.
You must have a boat Snaf. Aren't those crabs in deep water ? I'd love to catch a halibut. I've had a few sea bass from the local beach, and flounder from nearby estuaries. I once caught a great blue shark while on holiday in Cornwall. The big deal in my town is tope- a shark. But a boat is needed to get out there where they feed. Enjoy the fishing trip and take care.
Yeah I have a 20 in board semi v Alumaweld jet . It's made mostly for rivers but it works well in lakes and even the ocean. I don't go out to far and only in good weather. dungeonous crab can be caught pretty close to the shore. They feed on the scrap halibut the comercial fishers throw out. But yeah the good stuff like king crab is pretty far out there. My buddy just bought to used 26 foot Bertrum with a 11 foot beam. It will be perfect to get out farther. The wider beam helps from getting tossed around too much. I can't wait to get out!
Here we have a very shallow sea. This makes for dangerous freak waves from time to time. Its caused by the water coming up against prolonged resistance as it makes its way to shore. From time to time we have drowned boaters and capsized boats. The worst event was about 1890. A German baroque floundered as it left Liverpool. The Southport lifeboat put out to attend and all hand were drowned- about a dozen men. The boat was the Eliza Fernley I think. I've seen the memorial at the local cemetery. Blackpool and Lytham lifeboats also put out. Not too sure how they fared. It was the worst storm in decades, maybe in 100 years. If it happened now we'd all be blaming global warming, but disastrous freakish weather patterns have been around always
It's getting to be lunch time about now for me. I'm thinking (Hy-Vee) Chinese, don't wanna go outside in the cold to get it though.. Damn... I'll do it anyways.... I'm REALLY REALLY hungry for chinese, best go get me a pair of socks and slip on my shoes. Later.......................... . .
