Sure there is... fresh vegetables from someone else's garden who grew too many. Don't get me wrong, I like eating them. I just don't enjoy all the stuff that goes into growing them. If I am going primitive, I am going back to the hunting and gathering times. I'll hunt for fish and I'll gather from the farmer's market.
The luxury of indoor plumbing took a hit in our household for several weeks. I finally managed to make it to the hardware store last Saturday to buy new guts for our only toilet (it was functioning, but a nuisance), a new bathroom faucet (parts cost almost as much as the whole unit, which was $20, half what I expected), as well as repairing the valve on the toilet (used to leak). Now I'm waiting for a dryer part (belt) so my undies don't have to be hanging in the basement (on insulated copper wire, since I couldn't find enough rope to hang a line, it's all outside and frozen lol). I tell you, the women in my life are ever so grateful I got that stuff done, and at a tenth of the cost a pro would have charged, I am too lol
Good job and I hear ya on the cost savings. I fix stuff for a living and it is an ability not everyone has. But if one is willing to try, it can save a lot of money.
