Not a myth. I watched them burn friends businesses, injure a policeman and kick a woman's dog to within an inch of his life. Antifa was not an exaggeration to those folks.

I suppose this inquiry is down to whether “Antifa” is a functional, influential organization that promotes liberal anarchy
    or
is Antifa is just a bunch of young people hell bent on creating chaos and mishap in the name of “wokeness”

I believe there is valid points that demonstrate both sides.

They are opportunistic, and will riot under any cause as long as it supports chaos leading to the downfall civil structures. The term Fascist seems to be a flexible label.

The new Right-wing boogieman is the ideal of Antifa which is the idea that we should be anti-Fascists. I never hear the Right condemning Fascists but I do hear them go nuts over anti-Fascists so I have to conclude that they are pro-Fascists.

Then there are the real threats from groups like QAnon and multiple Right-wing hate groups and white supremacists that never get mentioned at least not nearly as much as the ideal of anti-Fascism. So again, I have to conclude, that these people that are so upset about the ideal of Antifa but can barely spare a second to rage about genuine threats that Right-wing hate groups pose, are actually pro-hate groups and pro-Fascism.

I know that this makes too much sense for people that believe in baby eating pizza restaurants, alien lizard people, and their own superiority for merely being born white, but I felt like a little perspective on priorities is called for here.

You have to marvel at their priorities.

This is what needs to be done.

White House launches 'comprehensive threat assessment' on domestic extremism
    Source: Politico

President Joe Biden has asked the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to conduct a “comprehensive threat assessment” of domestic extremism following the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol by a violent mob that left five people dead.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced on Friday that Biden decided to ask for the review, which will be coordinated with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, because “clearly more needs to be done” to address the rising threat posed by violent extremists across the country.

“The January 6th assault on the capitol and the tragic deaths and destruction that occurred underscored what we have long known: the rise of domestic violent extremism is a serious and growing national security threat,” Psaki said. “The Biden administration will confront this threat with the necessary resources and resolve.”

The pro-Trump rioters who breached the Capitol earlier this month included members of the alt-right, self-described “Western chauvinist” Proud Boys and far-right militia groups Oath Keepers and Three Percenters. All three groups have increasingly provided security or worked alongside neo-Nazi and white supremacist factions, according to national security experts.

Here's what gets buried or you ignore........

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
of the United States of America in
    Congress assembled,
    SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Domestic
    Terrorism Prevention Act of 2019’’.
    SEC. 2. FINDINGS.
    Congress finds the following:
    (1) White supremacists and other far-rightwing
extremists are the most significant domestic
    terrorism threat facing the United
    States.
    (2) On February 22, 2019, a Trump Administration
    United States Department of Justice
official wrote in a New York Times op-ed
that ‘‘white supremacy and far-right extremism
    are among the greatest domestic-security
    threats facing the United States.
    Regrettably,
over the past 25 years, law enforcement,
at both the Federal and State
levels, has been slow to respond. . . .Killings
committed by individuals and groups associated
    with far-right extremist groups have
    risen significantly.’’

The hypocrisy here is that most conservatives do in fact revile at the threat of ultra-right wing thugs intent on causing chaos. The problem is the ultra-left groups that cause destruction and chaos is somehow a darling of the left. Aaawwwee..... Just let those kids burn productive businesses. Caucasian men own them and they are insured, right?

In all honesty, I have never heard anyone on the Right or the Left celebrate either group unless they were a part of that group. It isn't so much what you celebrate or consider them darlings, it is what you choose to ignore that is most telling.

For example: If Group A has committed thousands of acts of violence, shootings, bombings, etc. in the name of their ideology and Group B has a far, far less violent track record of committing those same violent acts in the name of their ideology, I'm going to focus my attention on Group A and worry less about Group B instead of making group B my main focus because it is only sane to do so.

Does that make sense from a priorities perspective?

I hope the idea of anti-Fascists never goes away. On the other hand, I can live without white supremacists entirely.
