Danr, if the US car manufacturers didn't have to pay healthcare, they still couldn't turn out a quality car under $10,000. Besides, you have to either tax the car manufacturer or tax the employees to pay for the "free" healthcare, so you're still talking about severely decreasing the standard of living of Americans. Your solution doesn't work. Tariffs work.

Before you get to wound up, you had better remember that the real minimum wage is zero [unemployment].

That is what 2010 is about to bring to you good Democrats.

I understand. You got your share, so screw everyone else. Why dont you notify SSA and tell them you dont need those monthly checks anymore. And let the VA know you'll buy your own medication. Wouldnt you be so happy if every generation is worse off than the previous one?

    Have you been smoking crack?

Healtcare cost per worker cannot and does not exceed the cost lost by the lazy worker syndrome. I live near Detroit, I know first hand people who work or have worked at the Big 3. Here is one example that is not NOT out of the normal.

Quoted from actual worker at GM
"I work at GM, have for 30 years my job is to push a button so the hoods get stamped, I am usually finished with my production in 2 hours, so I sleep on a bed made of cardboard for the other 6 or some of us run off to the bar across the street until its time to punch out. The company will not fire us because the UAW is there to protect us." This person recently retired from GM after 30+ years, full pension, told me that he NEVER worked a full 8 hour day the whole time he was there. But complained that he only made 60,000 a year when he left.

Do the math. 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. Lets see. 10 hours a week, times 48 weeks. (4 weeks paid vacation) 480 hours a YEAR worked on the line for 60 grand. Yep, its healthcare alright. I could go on and on with stories just like this one. Healthcare is a concern NOW because the lazy mans job has been protected for far to long. Unions are a thing of the past, they are killing this country now.

Call me ignorant I guess, I call it the way it is.. There is one dealership locally here that is trying to get the union OUT of there so that they can survive. Is it management doing it? NO, its the workers who are pressing the issue.

I have been on both sides of the union, so I do have some background in that arena. Worked at a Steel Plant for 7 years, Union drove it out of Michigan. They moved to Georgia. 7 years invested there. Severance pkg from "MY UNION" $107.00. The rest went to administrative cost.

Want to save our economy? Stop paying lazy workers. 60 grand a year, for pushing a button for 2 hours a day.

Those workers might also want to stop paying part of their check to the union bosses every pay day. Let those lazy bums go out and make a living doing some work for a change. Unions have outgrown their usefullnes 40 years ago.

Hmm. How did I know you would say that? Youre the kind of guy who would take both even if you could afford to live without both. Greedy. You take them, enjoy the those measley crumbs. And still complain about how little it is, or that Fedex delivered them a day late. Gimmie gimmie gimmie, thats your generation's motto. Maybe the government should cease social security when the recipient hits 80 years old. So it can insure the future of the program. How'd that be? Cool with you? But you dont care if the next guy gets his social security check. As long as you get yours. Hey let that guy go out and work for minimum wage and no benefits. Youre pathetic.

    Moen1305 Not Republican!

The vast majority of health care dollars are spent on the last six months on a person's life. If we could save that money, the health care system would be in fine shape. I think this is an example of throwing good money away on the dead. :headbang:

Your right on both accounts, so what?
This time your wrong. I have them sent by mail and get it faster.
Wrong again! That is your generation and all you need to do is ask your parents ( if they are still speaking to you)
Well at least you got the first one and the last one right, now go suck your thumb!:thumb: either one!

Well if it isn't old Jack Kevorkian himself! Heard you had been released but surprised to find you going by the name of 'Moen' around these parts.

Like most Democrats he is trying to save someone elses money for himself. The money you are talking about isn't your to do what you will, so keep your hand in your own pockets and mind your manners. Just like that generations notions of how to ger just a little more give to them. Here is a hint: go out and work and earn it!

If you meant this sarcastically (and I presume you did), then this statement boils down to the root of the problem. The younger generation simply does not want to start at the bottom and work up.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with working for minimum wage. When people see others making more money than they, it gives them an incentive to work harder, seek more education, budget their money and spend wisely... that is, if they want to better themselves financially.

My parents were literally dirt poor. My father worked in the cotton fields and taught me the value of a dollar and how difficult it is to earn a dollar. They never asked the government to give them a single dime. They worked hard to better themselves and never complained about it.

The problem with these modern Clinton-era, Gen-Y, Michael-Moore-loving dotcom-ers is that they've come to expect immediate gratification and if they don't get it then they whine like little babies. I'm sick of this attitude. If they want something they're going to have to work for it. Yeah, they may have to start at the bottom earning minimum wage, but so what? We live in a capitalistic society with an unlimited ceiling that encourages ambition, work ethic, ingenuity and intestinal fortitude. These qualities are lacking in a lot of these cry-babies who want government handouts (like free healthcare). If your employer doesn't offer healthcare, get a second job, but please don't ask me to pay for it.

    I do not oppose tariffs.
healthcare could be paid for by first eliminating waste fraud and abuse, and eliminating Bush's give away to the rich. But yes tarriffs can be a very good thing. And I do remind you, they pay more per car in health care then parts.

I'll ask for a second time. Can you please substantiate where this information is coming from.

( I don't think there is an emicon to show where I think you got this from..)

Logically, wouldn't the same thing happen if the U.S. Government offered healthcare to all its citizens?

Soon we exports our cars there. Not likes the 1980ths when only junk sent with wrong color seats and not keys for car, but good quality and easy buy car.

Pretty soon not oil, nor raw material - but finished goods, then we see who driver :hail:
