http://minnesota.publicradio.org/features/2008/11/19_challenged_ballots/ They are carefully examining the MN senate ballots. Some of these are a little funny, I mean who is so dumb that they do this: and this one is pretty funny:
There are some other funny ones at the linked site. But I say that if an American goes to the trouble of registering and getting to the polls their ballot should count.
That first one goes to show that you cannot, no way, no how, make anything Idiot-Proof! lol The second one is just funny. And, while a number of the ballots on the link are legitimately tough to figure out, a few of the challenges on that page show that neither side has any morals or ethics or really cares at all what the voter's intent was. This is somehow not a vote for Franken? And a smudge off a dirty thumb is a disqualifying distinguishing mark? I don;t think I can even fathom the amount of fraud that is almost certainly being attempted in this recount. Good luck MN, no matter who wins, you lose.
People like that should not be allowed to pollute the voting system. It makes a mockery of something that is serious. If they want to play comedian they should find another venue.
Thing is here do you want people to come out and vote or not? now this is just my opinion I would rather they negated the ballot paper than not take the time to vote at all after all it is there right is it not? We might look upon it as a wasted vote but they might well look upon it as a protest against the candidates. Dissalowing a vote because it has a finger print on it is in my opinion a much graver matter than people casting non eligable votes.
I cut them some slack in this particular election. How serious can you take a ballot that has Al Franken's name on it? Maybe the voters thought it was a joke by the election commission.
I appreciate your point. As a matter of spirit of candor I will offer that indeed I wrote in a candidate, a serious one. The one whom in the end I opined was the one that looked out for MY state over any other candidate. One whom was a candidate until the party bosses shuddered said individual out. I would offer that if you want to protest, you would do it as I did, a serious vote and not a comedic approach to an important venue.
I agree. But the dems said they were going to get their people out to vote. You saw them on MTV going to highschools and trailer parks signing up people that more than likely couldn't pick out Washington D.C. on a map. But they were adamant about getting them out there because it's their right and even providing transportation for them to get to the polls. Surely they watch the news, read the paper, listen to radio and read up on the issues on the internet! LOL! With the crowd Acorn was signing up in force, I"m not a bit surprised by this garbage. Or the continued fraud that was allowed as a result of it. The elections are becoming only a formality that makes people feel good.
