Can Democrats win on the Disclose Act?

A Senate measure to place curbs on the expansive Citizens United campaign finance ruling by the Supreme Court earlier this year is expected to fail today. But Democrats believe the united Republican opposition to the measure gives them an electoral opening this fall.
The Disclose Act -- Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light On Spending in Elections (strained acronym alert!) -- would force disclosure of election-related disbursements by corporations, labor unions and nonprofit groups. A similar bill passed the House in late June. Senate observers expect the bill to come up short of the 60 votes required to proceed to a full floor debate Tuesday.
In expectation of that vote, White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer sought to set the stakes for the fall election. "Today's vote has the potential to be a defining one for the Republican party," said Pfeiffer. "This a choice between the public and big corporations and the Republicans seem poised to vote en masse for the corporations."

    Cont’d…

Again, the Republicans show us just who they really work for. With united opposition to a bill that would simply identify who is giving money to what candidate whether they be corporations, unions, or even nonprofits, the Republicans are unwilling to support an open disclosure of any kind.
Is it too soon to just admit that we live in an Oligarchy or Corporatocracy and that is just fine with the extreme right wingers that will undoubtedly bring the rest of us down with their shortsightedness?
A couple of facts to think about: 80% of all stocks are in the hands of 1% of the U.S. population. Unions contribute 1/10th of 1% to political campaigns compared to corporate donors. Something is going to have to change in this country and corporations are going to need a heck of a lot more security if they keep forcing the entire middle class into a corner. I will have a tough time having any pity for them once they’ve unleashed the anger of people who have nothing left to lose. When do Americans get to own their country again?

Boy! There just isn't a way to twist this Republican behavior so we get silence from the Right. And they dare to talk about Obama being transparent. You have a lot of cleaning of your own house before you can worry about the Democrats being more transparent.

I do think that all political donations should be open to public gaze regardless of which side of the divide it is on, without it there will allways be accusations of parties been bought

They are all a bunch of crooks but I guess siding with the evil that best suits yourself is the best route to success ahey Moen?

Let me ask you a few questions:

How much money are you in debt?
Do you believe/preach about god to others?
Are you dependent or independent in your life?

Why does this matter? Typically liberals are in debt up to their ears therefore they are Dependent on Gov'mint to provide and to help them. Also there is a high "siding" with God to exhibit their radical beliefs prior to their thoughts to better justify with themselves the denial they are truly in.

We are going to be in trouble if we keep voting in Hollywood candidates. They do not care about the people, they side with their party and where they can make the most money. If we had real dems and Repubs right now, well, itd be a miracle.
