What?!?! No firearms were involved in this man's death? The liberals here aren't going to like that!!

You're always quick to condem violence, Coin. You just absolutely abhor violence. Except when it's violence on the part of the cops. Then your horror seems somewhat muted to say the least, your reaction to this incident being a case in point. How do you feel about the old line, "beauty is a rock in a cop's face." Does that bring you back round to hating violence again? I'll bet it does.

BTW, what happened to Mr Broc? Now we have Obama as who, Mao? Anyone reviewing the facts would realize that Obama is as much Mao as he is broccoli so at least you are being consistent.

Why, yes indeed I certainly do abhor violence. Unless warranted. Thank you for reiterating that. I'm not going to judge the police in that video, BTW. I wasn't there. Were you? Most of what is seen happens out of view, so unless one was involved or was an eye witness there's really no point in trying to guess what was happening or what the man was doing.

Oh, also my avatar is just a representation of Comrade Obama in one of his many roles as our Fearless Leader. Read into what you will.

I'm glad you pointed that out token... I mean Takiji!...Sorry, couldn't resist. :D ...I too have noticed that righties are quick to condemn violence ...particularly by the Occupiers, whether real or imagined (usually the latter), yet are silent on police brutality issues.

I've pointed out one image posted here ...that was used to condemn the supposed violence by the Occupiers... of a young man covered in blood from a head wound, a wound which almost certainly was the result from a blow by a policeman's battan.

Don't get me wrong, I respect the average policeman going about an average day...most of what they do is commendable, and IMO, they are severely underpaid. The problem I have, besides the bad cops that are inevitably part of any significantly-sized group, is that the police ...whose motto is "to protect and serve"... are a force of government, and not the people.

They are paid by the government to do the government's bidding. Inevitably you get into situations like the Occupy movement, where the government does not want the people around. They send in the cops and order them to disband the protestors...and violence ensues... but it's government authorized.

That's what may be happening with the righties; despite their distaste for government, they obey authority without question. Me? I obey when it's justifiable, but I reserve the right to question authority. So an image of a cop beating on someone angers me far more than it does the righties. That's because I question why the cops are beating on someone, I don't just accept is as being justified without question.

This video certainly gave me chills Kat, I've had run-ins with overly demanding cops before, but thankfully it never came to blows like it did here.

Officer Ramos was definitely determined to prove to Thomas that he was "the man", that he was "the boss", and that Thomas better obey... or get beaten up.

Even more, Ramos was looking for any excuse to beat on Thomas...from the moment he snapped on those rubber gloves you can see the aggressiveness take over Ramos, the need to provoke a fight...so, instead of behaving as an officer should, he antagonized Thomas to the point where Thomas became upset.

That isn't what a professional does in a situation like that, it's an abuse of the power and privilege of the badge. Worse, as other cops arrived, they assumed (wrongly) that Thomas was at fault...but I can't blame them for that. I can blame the officer that arrived later, officer Cicinelli, who used a stun gun on Thomas, then beat his face with it...that was excessive use of force.

Thomas' death was the horrendous result of an abuse of power. That said, maybe Ramos and Cicinelli were having a bad day, maybe ordinarily they are fine officers...but that night, they became criminals.
