I think if a person finds themselves thinking about something they've posted or something someone else posted too often or even bordering on thinking about this forum obsessively, it is no longer just fun and they might want to consider taking a break. I find that as the pool of posters here has dwindled and I can almost predict their responses before they are even posted, my interest in this forum dwindles as well. I bet if I met any person on this forum and talked coins, I’d never even consider a confrontational stance during our talk. And I mean ANYONE. That makes me believe that all these strongly held opinions are just more bellicose rhetoric than anything else.
I think you have it pretty well figured out, but you might want to make and exception for Tom. He was never interested in coins, he only trolled Cointalk to spread his truther propaganda. He is committed to his lunacy for sure. It seems though that you enjoy this forum more than Cointalk, I hardly even see you post much over there anymore.
I sometimes think you guys think Tom and I are joined at the hip when in reality all we really have in common is that we are close to one another on the political spectrum on some issues. He is what he is and I am what I am and his views are his an mine are mine. People often think they are insulting me by comparing me to Tom but I'd still rather be an idealistic liberal than any kind of conservative so I find these attempts at insults pretty funny. I am more of a winter coin collector. I spend more time outside in the summer doing things when I'm not at work and I set up my coin table and work on my collection when I am indoors more of the time during the winter months. I also have been a member of this forum for over 5 and a half years and the coin questions just keep getting recycled over and over. I used to answer them but answering the same questions over and over gets old. Let the newbies do that stuff.

That is David lumping you two together, not me. Although I may frequently disagree with your point of view, your arguments are based on reality, unlike Tom's. My only problem is that without the more advanced collectors, the newbies rule the roost. At present, there are very few threads even worth reading over on Cointalk. Most of the best threads end up with me and Doug in a battle. I don't know how many times I have made a well thought out OP only to be met by tumbleweeds.
It is the only conclusion one can make after reading your posts on Cointalk. Don't blame me, you wrote them!
Why does every thread have to come down to you two trading barbs? Can't you just private message your insults to each other or are you both trying for the hearts and minds of the rest of us? You are actually getting neither except when an occasional nodding bobble-head chimes in on your insult-fest.
Trading insults with him is better than having to read the normal crap he posts! If we PM our insults, then they wouldn't annoy you, what fun would that be?
I'm not into PMing and I do not allow PM's. They're privacy and security risks inherent to them, and best I can tell, most here are hostile, some apparently mentally unbalanced, some just ignorant. At any rate, I trust few and certainly not this bunch. How's that for paranoia?? Have fun with it.
