I think I will have a peaceful sleep. With 2 little tax deductions still in the house and an income that is higher than about 2/3rds of US households, 5% is typically where we fall at. Is it too high? Too low? In our system, it is just what the people have chosen it to be by their voting. I do think some people don't realize quite how high they are on the food chain, though. Once you reach levels where your household income is greater than 90 or 95 or more of US households, your tax rate is going to be quite high in our system. I imagine the President's effective tax rate would have been higher than 20.5% had he not given another 22% of his income to charity...
