Why is it always the least educated people that feel the need to attack Higher Education? Oh yeah, because they are least educated. In other words, because you guys are ignorant fools.

“Online universities” and I use the term universities with reluctance are a bunch of businesses that offer all their courses online with no brick-and-mortar facilities and have little to do with higher education and more to do with sleazy fly-by-night businesses. And absolutely nothing to do with public institutions such as state owned universities.

Oddly enough, many of you remind me of Phoenix School grads. Few that they may be maybe some of you actually achieved your mail order diplomas.

Who is attacking higher education? I, for one, am an advocate of higher education. I wish some of the members here were more educated and I wish some of those who are educated weren't brainwashed.

Oh really! I kind of took, "This doesn't affect Moen. This video clip clearly shows his Alma Mater:" as more of an attack than an advocation.

Online "universities" have as much in common with accredited higher education institutions as payday loan stores have to do with banks.

You perceived correctly. I wasn't attacking higher education at all.

dr moen, phd tries to twist my distain for greedy schools preying on naive students as distain for higher education but of course he's wrong. I value my undergrad degree & my MBA. My wife has a Masters in Education and is currently in Nursing School so once again dr moen, phd, you are totally & completely wrong.

I spoke to a guy yesterday who accumulated over $100k in student loans on the way to getting his engineering degree. His wife borrowed $160k on her way to becoming a teacher. Now they have a daughter who is a senior in high school & are faced with the reality of the same thing for her. See what happens, dr moen, phd? You & people like you are creating a vicious circle.

This is what happens when we refuse to subsidize the cost of education by the State. The State used to pay almost the enitre cost of education for students. Now, Republicans have ended that practice so the financial burden has fallen on the individual student and or their family. Now we have a die hard Rightie complaining that the cost of education is too high. Kind of makes me smile to think that this short-sighted idiot is now suffering the consequences of his own stupidity.

Is our nation not approaching bankruptcy at a fast enough pace for your liking. The entire debate over the debt ceiling was predicated on the irresponsible spending and out of control debt in this country, but you want the government to pay for more shit. You are unbelievable.

Here is my solution to the problem in this country. All registered Democrats can double their tax rate and spend away as long as they don't increase the national debt. Republicans will not pay a dollar more in taxes but will not be eligible to avail themselves of any government program not already in existence. Pay up clown!

As state funding disappears, tuition increases. I don't care if you have state government subsidizing higher education making it more affordable for more people or if you decrease state education subsidies and force state institutions to raise tuition. Whichever way you want to go is fine with me. Just don't rail against government spending and then turn around and complain about high tuition because one directly affects the other. I'm not so much talking to LeClown as I am talking to David Lee Whiner and his tuition complaints. You can't have it both ways and I've explained it to you often enough that it might actually sink in one day.

Yeah, the States are broke already. The federal government is next if people like you get your way. It amazes me that clowns like you can believe pseudo science like global warming and accept it as gospel, but refuse to believe that our increasing debt is going to destroy our great nation.

The debt by itself will not destroy your nation it is still possible to reduce that but what might well do for you is the stupidity of your politicians on both sides, instead of facing the problem (created by themselfs and before someone pipes up NOT simply President Obama) they play silly little blame games, the time for that is fast ending. You have a stark choice take drastic measures right now or slowly drown in a disaster of your own making

If disagreeing with you is considered whining, then the answer would be yes.

Whatever you want to believe dude. Our government is designed in such a way so that nothing gets done. It prevents the implementation of radical policies but also makes it almost impossible to handle a complex crisis like the debt problem. Until we enact a policy to prevent political office from being a lifetime career, the desire to keep their jobs will always overrule doing the right thing. They all know that entitlement reform is essential but none of them will actually do it because if they do, it will be one of the last things they do in office.

The only thing that will save the United States is term limits for all federal political offices and complete elimination of campaign contributions. Political campaigns should be financed via federal tax dollars with a fixed sum of money. If they run out of money before the campaign ends, they have just proven that they are incapable of sticking to a budget and that they are unqualified for the position. Yep that is my solution, eliminate all lobbyists and politicians, then we can fix the problems.
