There was an airman in my shop before I got out who came in as a Mexican citizen. She was married but her husband stayed in Mexico and not a US citizen. She became a US citizen. They had 2 kids...both born as US citizens. She has her mother live with her in on-base housing as a dependent. He mother is not a US citizen but is there legally.

My point? I guess it is that there are often ways for people to do things legally, safely and above the board if they are willing to go through the effort and time. Which is why, maybe, my sympathy meter doesn't move very far for the people who do things the illegal way, take shortcuts and get caught...and pay the consequences.

Good luck to you, Jack but it they or you get caught up in anything because of their situation, your existing knowledge, etc...you probably won't hear any violins playing from my way. ;)

I have to agree wih Stu. I have an immense amount of respect for Jack but finding an end around the law isn't really the solution. You may not be violating the letter of the law now Jack but you are violating the spirit of the law as well as aiding & abedding the type of lawbreakers who are wrecking havoc on our country.

My wife is also helping the parents to file their papers and go the legal route.....
I agree, this is a sticky wicket, but thats the best solution we could come up with. We dont want the family broken up..........

I mustve read AJ's story incorrectly. The couple in his story didnt appear to be wreaking havoc in this country. At least not to me. Yeah, theyre breaking the law. But they arent desperados.

They actually sound like the type of people that are good for this country and probably better than a lot of our citizens. But, like the non-tax paying fishermen, they are breaking the law and if they pay the price, that is the price they pay. ;)

Yup. I agree. I think a number equal to the number employers who hire illegals should be jailed immediately, and after we put both of those people in jail, the problem will dissipate. Oh wait. Employers hiring illegals in jail? That wouldn't be "good business". Laws are only for the poor to follow....not the wealthy. What was I thinking?

People do get sentenced to jail for hiring illegal aliens. Not enough of them but it does happen.

Perhaps if they were imprisoned for, I don't know, BREAKING THE LAW, perhaps, just perhaps, the issue would self dissolve? We only lock up the poor though so I don't guess that wouldn't fly. Easier to use smoke and mirrors, and to blame the destitute for trying to survive, and easier for the lawbreaking employers to profit, and then blame the same people they profited from instead of themselves for hiring them. Ahhh...capitalism...can't you smell it?

I agree that the people who knowingly hire people who are in this country illegally should be jailed. Like I said, some business people do get sent to jail for that. Not enough of them, I am sure. But, then again, not enough illegals are caught either.

You sure that isn't brain rot or maybe some of the slobber dripping out of where your head normally resides that is leaking back out it's storage cavity that you're smelling?

Heard on the radio today an interview with the guy who wrote the Missouri immigration law. He said that he used the same constitutional lawyer's help to write it that Arizona did. And that the laws are very much the same. In fact he said, Missouri's law went further.

And, apparently, Missouri is not the only state with this same kind of law. I have been trying to find and read about the Missouri law but haven;t seen much yet. But, how come AZ is the only one being made a fuss of? Sued, etc? Heck, Missouri hosted the All Star Game with this law in effect and now people want to boycott the AZ all star game.

    Odd.

Because the power hungry liberal elites find it politically expedient?

You're out of luck my friend. The Immigration (ICE:- Immigration & customs enforcement ) is a part of home land security, NSA, FBI...EXT. If they have a doupt you're doing it, then you will be facing jail time (Federal Pen). Stay away from that even if it coast you your house, credit and money.
Laws are wrong, but they are the laws. Live by them or they will force you to and trust me, you would not want that

The law is just nonsense if you ask me. I mean, our government obviously prefers terrorists than hard working people. How many "Americans" will you see building houses and would be on a roof non stop, fast and at a lower pay? How many Americans you hear about rape, murder, child abuse, molest etc.. and walk after a few years? How many terrorists do we take care of with our taxes?

These "illegals" should have a better chance and opportunity than that. If they murder, molest, rape, then I would agree that they should be kicked to the curve. But till then, they are friendly, hard working people and I work with many in the force and although born here, they disagree and detest that ridiculous law.

What about the people who want to come here legally? Don't you care about them?

I think you miss the point. So long as mega wealth can extract something (labor) at an obscene profit margin, it's all moot. That's it. Jail the law breaking employers....the problem goes away. The problem's not going anywhere with our current economic system. Crime pays.....WELL.

14.6 million Americans out of work...22 million assumed Illegals in the country.....Oh and I know a whole bunch of out of work construction workers who would love to work for the wages Day Laborers are asking.

I have my own point which I will discuss with Rigo. Don't you have a super secret agency to avoid?
