Splains a lot . . . I always wondered why @freshmeat only has time enough to stop by about once a week!

    Bumping the thread
    https://www.wsj.com/articles/where-...eak-hypothesis-78be1c39?mod=opinion_lead_pos5

"In the four years since the SARS-CoV-2 virus was unleashed on the world, data have steadily accumulated supporting the hypothesis that it emerged from a laboratory. The latest information, released last month, makes a formidable case that the virus is the product of laboratory synthesis, not of nature."

    ...

"In March 2018 a team of American and Chinese virologists applied to the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, known as Darpa, seeking a $14 million grant to manipulate viruses related to SARS-CoV-1, the bat virus that caused a minor epidemic in 2002. Their goal was to identify bat viruses in Asia with the highest potential for jumping to people and to immunize bats so they wouldn’t infect soldiers in the region."

It was 100 percent leaked from a Wuhan biological warfare lab. Only thing we are not sure off/ was it accidental or on purpose.

Yeah, GW can continue relying on probability to support his position that the origin of COVID was zoonotic.

As for me? I think the probability is high that the Chinese screwed up.

Any rational thinker can see that the virus originated in the Wuhan lab. I’ll concede the fact that we don’t know whether the virus escaped accidentally or whether it was intentionally released. We may never know for sure.

One fact is certain, however. The virus didn’t spring up miraculously from a market where little ladies weren’t properly cleaning bats.

Most of the worst pandemics originated in China/ case in point, the Black Death. Mongols catipulted dead bodies affected with the Plague into Genoese City they laid siege to in 1300 century/ from there it spread thru Europe.

I'm not gonna belabor it further here. Suffice it to say my belief has not changed from this story, and I'll let you guys know when evidence comes out that does change my position.

Here too! People were paranoid to a level of mass hysteria. I was never that worried/ kept on working when we had total lock downs. I never got vaccinated/ have a needle phobia:eek:
Today March 2/2024 I have never had COVID/ flu/ cold. And never wore a mask unless mandated by law. So, seems really strange to see people still afraid of this today.
    Are certain people immune?
Funniest thing I noted in 2021/ while out doing lawncare/ here were two women walking down a side street holding out a measuring tape 14 feet apart, wondering why irate drivers were honking their horns at them:rolleyes:

I had the initial vaccination (Janssen) and caught a fairly bad case of Covid shortly thereafter and the hospital gave me an antibody infusion... Went along fine for the better part of a year and decided I didn't want Covid again and got another vaccination (Moderna)... Shortly thereafter I once again contracted Covid. Now I am not a vaccination conspiracy sort of fellow. In fact, I get a flu vaccine each year. My whole family had the flu at the Holidays and I was just fine..... Fact is, I run a business and simply wanted to do my part to stay healthy so I could run my place of business. But after two vaccinations and a round of antibodies and still contracting Covid twice, I do have to say that I am done with the Covid vaccines for now. I do find it somewhat odd that I have recently begun receiving texts from the CDC asking if I have had any long term impacts from my vaccine.

Another bump - to add another chapter to the story>

"The Covid pandemic wasn’t government’s finest hour, not least because of a persistent lack of transparency. Emails released last week by the U.S. House reveal how Anthony Fauci’s former top adviser worked to keep the public in the dark and thwart investigations into Covid’s origins."

"Subpoenaed private emails from Dr. Fauci’s senior adviser, David Morens, now show how NIH officials and EcoHealth President Peter Daszak sought to conceal their lapses. After the Trump administration in April 2020 suspended funding for EcoHealth, Dr. Morens rallied to Mr. Daszak’s defense."

"Dr. Morens led the Daszak protection program. His subpoenaed emails show that he helped edit EcoHealth’s press releases and worked to get its funding restored. He also sought to thwart Freedom of Information Act requests by outside groups regarding the EcoHealth grant."

"On Feb. 24, 2021, Dr. Morens wrote to Boston University scientist Gerald Keusch: “I learned from our foia lady here how to make emails disappear after i am fioa’d [sic] but before the search starts, so i think we are all safe. Plus i deleted most of those earlier emails after sending them to gmail.”"

Idk, maybe Fauci’s flip flop testimony today. He was either lying today, or he was lying before.

That's not scientific evidence. I promise if there is new evidence, you won't find it first at a soundbite mill show hearing.

You have no more evidence that COVID didn’t originate in a lab than others have that it did. All you have is increased probability.

As long as both origins are possible, probability seems the next determiner of origin. But all is not as it seems, because the preponderance of circumstantial evidence supporting lab-origin certainly seems to outweigh the probability of zoonotic-origin, for which no evidence has surfaced.

It surprises me that you cling to the academic argument, when the evidentiary argument is stronger. Then again, it’s rare when the liberal viewpoint is tainted by realism . . .

Okay, it's not worth talking about if we can't even agree to be in the same plane of the universe. I feel like you're smart enough to know that statement is ridiculously divorced from reality, but you choose not to for political points from your buddies? Truly puzzling. Sad even.

Come on . . . Just because there are more combinations of rolled dice yielding a total of 7 doesn’t mean 2 and 12 don’t come up.

If you see the snake eyes, you’re a believer. If you have your back turned to the dice, you’ll argue it was a 7 all day long.
