Riiiiiiight... Like "the world is flat" or "earth is the center of the universe" or any number of "facts" that were once believed to be true. So, yeah, I think it best we hear both sides.

So, if you're also a Flat Earther, it's OK to admit you're wrong. We won't judge you.

What an inane argument . . . John rolled a pair of dice in the next room . . . you say he rolled a twelve and I say he rolled a seven . . . the probability that I'm right makes you wrong?

I think it'd be a good idea for you to unlock your limited gaze from the zoonotic origin, and consider more information which is no less concrete than the odds to which you point.

You certainly are a contradiction. At one point in history the overwhelming evidence was the world is flat.

Yea, because Methuselah Microbes never ever never have had any busy little minds playing with them, modifying them, tweaking them, thinking they can be contained.

    Platform this.....

I absolutely despise educated individuals that can not understand their education is of no value when common sense is set aside and validly of possibility and indeed probability are ignored for personal ideological "feelings".

You give away your false agenda when you use words like 'disrooted" and "platforming".

All men are created equal but all ideas and opinions are not...got it.

THE BOOK OF THE IDEOLOGY OF DIVISION.

Only if you have strong evidence he rolled a seven. Like you know the dice are loaded from previous experience. Lab leak vs natural origin is nothing like a coin flip.

That is much less concrete than the evidence I point to. I'm looking at differences in genomes, that guy is saying "well, you never know, accidents happen" and calling it evidence. If the "ledger has shifted" then I suppose he means lab leak is now 9999 times less likely when it used to be 10000 times less likely because he didn't offer anything new and crazy supporting it.

It was not. You confuse popular opinion with evidence, which is precisely the issue with lab leak.

Even if it were true, that's the cool part about science: it changes with new evidence. If new evidence arises strongly suggesting lab leak over natural origin, I'd change my mind. Given the pool we have now, natural origin is strongly favored.

You have no stronger evidence that the transmission was zoonotic than others have that it escaped the control of researchers. You have only probability, just as in the case of a 7 more likely being rolled than a 12. Neither is proven nor disproven by probability.

Nice of you to ignore the absence of a smoking-gun-intermediate-host, despite exhaustive searches for it in pursuit of proof of the zoonotic explanation.

If you really listened to Gottlieb interestedly, I believe you'd acknowledge that his "shifting of the ledger" statement is in reference to that finding . . . err, the absence thereof, as well as to the refusal of Chinese officials to release blood samples of the lab workers, the source strains for the research, an inventory of and the DNA sequences of lab samples.

Most compelling is the fact that 3 researchers from the Wuhan Institute came down with COVID symptoms in November 2019, fully two weeks before the public outbreak. Evidence points to one of those 3 researchers being directly involved in gain of function research with coronaviruses.

If you aren't at least interested in digging into this information, then you are disingenuous.

That's how basically all science works. It's not based on proving things true. You can only get evidence and converge on a probability towards an outcome. There is much stronger evidence of zoonotic transmission.

What does that look like? We've come progressively closer to finding such a host in zoonotic transmission, but the goalposts can always shift to a new "missing link" if you want it to.

Anything that further supports lab leak seems to always hinge on some missing evidence. I just think it's funny that the lack of a smoking gun is used as "evidence" for lab leak while simultaneously detracting from natural origin theory.

Unlike the lab doctor who died and the lab doctor who blew the whistle about the leak (which you would know about if you bothered to be informed) neither of them are like your" fanciful alien" comparison.

. . . And that’s exactly why science will always be less revered than absolute truth.

No . . . There is merely probability of cause, but not evidence of cause.

BS . . . The goalposts would be moved by claimants of zoonotic origin when the intermediate hosts they posit go unfound, and another non-research related avenue must be sought. As the most likely intermediate hosts are eliminated, less likely hosts are entertained to continue down the same path. Thus, the probability changes . . . The zoonotic origin becomes less probable.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you don’t acknowledge that missing evidence and withheld evidence are not the same thing. After all, the Democrat Party survives due to withheld evidence, and little else.

Another angle from Canada. Back in 2019 our Liberal Trudeau govt. had Chinese scientists working at the Winnipeg biological lab. Seems some ebola/ corona viruses went MIA. These scientists worked at the Wuhan bio-warfare lab before being transferred to Winnipeg. Of course the Govt. denied this. But when you follow the facts/ I would say it smells fishy. Only one question remains/ did the Chinese release the virus on purpose/ or was it a accident in Wuhan? These same folks massarced thousands in 1989 Tiananmen Square/ commiting genocide in Xinyiang/ invaded Korea in 1950/ threatening to attack Taiwan/ protecting Kim's rogue Regime/ supporting the thug in Kremlin:mad:

Well, the Chinese have a long history of obliterating their opposition without remorse that is only rivaled by their ability to lie without compunction….. But this whole “lab leak/wet market” debate smells a whole lot to me like the shooter in the grassy knoll. Just something to keep your attention focused elsewhere….. Just like the grassy knoll, we will be talking about this in sixty years and be no closer to the truth than we were to begin with.

Trumpturbaters....it is an instant satisfaction thing. Hell, they don't even need Kleenex (or socks), just let it rip when the Bashing urge hits (usually every 37-1/2 minutes).
