Well...yes eventually...but -I work at Walmart and am seeing a large influx of emergency like purchasing, food, survival gear, even influx of guns. -my Local Police are issuing warning about civil unrest -And it seems like the far right is locking and loading and ready to “fight for freedom” (sarcasm) -20,000 guardsmen in DC and heavy influx of other federal agencies. -Rumors of riots or attacks on Jan 20th. So what’s y’all’s take? Should I be preparing my final arrangements now? But seriously, is the Gov and left overreacting or equalizing the reaction of the far right?
most of those gravy seals will die of clogged arteries or diabetes. they'd be better off getting healthy, they seem to miss the big picture
Yes.... It is a gross over exaggeration of mass proportions. It’s the 24 hour news cycle needing to interject drama to keep people watching. Wednesday will hold all the drama of storming Area 51 a couple months back.
I'm not sure that the danger from these delusional losers can be overstated and at the same time I'm not sure that they are capable of anything other than a brief blip on the radar of history. What we are witnessing is the last gasps of a dying philosophy of hatred and pseudo-superiority. They can cause some trouble and we have to minimize their impact with preparedness but really, they are dead enders that will fade from history and drink themselves into a drunken stupor on the way out the door. They are morally bankrupt and doomed to fail.
I would say I’m a little concerned more than the average Joe (pun intended) It wouldn’t be inaccurate to say that the far left took control of the Capital without firing a single shot. And if these Psychos decide to dust off the old AR and Kevlar, what would be next?
Is everything Left considered "far Left" to people on the Right? Just curious because I don't consider Biden or Harris to be anything but centrists. I'm a little disappointed that there aren't more people leaning further to the Left in the Democratic party than we have right now. My thought is that the Right is predominantly controlled by the furthest reaches of the Right-wing extremists as witnessed on January 6th. I don't know of many centrists on the Right that consider themselves a part of the current party anymore. Having said that, I can imagine that from way out on the fringe Right, everything looks to be far Left from that vantage point. If you believe what the Right-wing media outlets say, every Democrat is far Left yet the only extremism we see is from the Right. My guess is that the dust never settled on these people's weapons. They sleep with them, they polish them, the salute them daily. All I can say is bring it on.
That, more than anything Trump has ever said, is what motivates these crackpots JN. Lie to yourselves all you want, but Trump did not incite the violence that we observed on Capitol Hill . . . you liberals, with your, "get in their faces" approach did that.
It is this endless diatribe that has everyone in a state of panic. Both sides trying to be heard over each other and in order to be heard, they use confrontational verbiage. Each side speaks in extremes so yes each side comes off as extreme to the listener. It is long beyond time for all this to end. If I were a seventeen year old trying to get on my life's path, I would be scared to death right now wondering when the adults were going to show up.
Next time BLM storms the Capitol and five people die, I will agree with your bothsiderisms. Right now, we have one party that is wholly owned by the most extremist psychopath ever to hold public office. His grip on those people isn't going anywhere and they have no intention of altering course if he does. I read that Trump's support had dropped in the wake of the MAGA Mob's actions within the Republican Party. Trump went from 85% approval to 75% approval. You can't use the minority of decent Republicans as an excuse to forgive the majority of Republicans. They are what they are and Trump did about everything he could to bring out the worst in them. They ARE the Republican Party right now.
If I remember correctly, about 70 million people voted for the man. I will bend over backward and kiss my own backside on Main Street of more than seventy of them show up anywhere to create trouble on Wednesday. I speak for the majority. Not the minority.
The only majority in the Republican Party are those devoted to Trump. He owns the majority of the GOP now. The numbers bear this out pretty clearly. You're either a Trump supporter or a minority within the party.
people like you don't know anything though https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...668f16-567d-11eb-a817-e5e7f8a406d6_story.html President Trump’s incitement of his supporters before their attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6 has galvanized a nationwide extremist movement and fueled those determined to disrupt the transfer of power to President-elect Joe Biden and violently challenge the legitimacy of the election for months — and possibly years, according to U.S. officials and independent experts. U.S. officials have warned authorities nationwide to be on alert for potential acts of violence at state capitols, as well as a possible second attack on the Capitol or on the White House. Law enforcement authorities have said extremists might use firearms and explosives and are monitoring online calls to rally in cities nationwide beginning Sunday. Security at the inaugural ceremony in Washington on Wednesday probably will be the most intense ever. At the center of the amorphous but increasingly motivated extremist movement sits the current president, now twice impeached, deprived of his social media megaphones but still exerting a powerful influence over his followers who take his baseless claims of election fraud as an article of faith. It remains unclear when and where groups might launch follow-up attacks, but even if they do pull back in the days to come — and experts say there is some reason to think they might — the threat from Trump-inspired extremism is likely to remain and grow. “It has begun to shift from ‘We are going to win this’ to ‘This fight is going to be a long one,’ ” said Rita Katz, executive director of the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors extremist groups and their use of social media to inspire and organize adherents. “The prevalent consensus across the movements involved in or supporting the Capitol siege is that they will keep pushing forward.” Nation’s governors warn of long-term dangers to their capitols Federal authorities are warning state leaders to be prepared for the possibility of attacks in state capitals in the days before Biden’s inauguration. New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) declared a state of emergency on Thursday, saying it was “reasonable to believe” that rioters “will endanger the safety of legislators, legislative staff and the general public as well as destroy public and historic infrastructure” in the state. “There are people in our country who want to turn peaceful protests into opportunities for violence,” Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) said at a news conference announcing he would call up more than 400 National Guard troops and close state offices in Columbus until Jan. 21. FBI Director Christopher A. Wray told reporters that officials were monitoring “an extensive amount of concerning online chatter” about events surrounding the inauguration. “Right now, we’re tracking calls for potential armed protests and activity leading up to the inauguration,” Wray said, noting that it was a challenge “to distinguish what’s aspirational versus what’s intentional.” Some officials said they aren’t taking any chances and were braced for the likelihood of attacks. After the Capitol siege, “what we’ve already seen and experienced is the depths and lengths people are willing to go in furtherance of their cause,” said Andrew Walsh, a deputy chief with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, who participated in a call with the FBI and local law enforcement officials on Wednesday. “I’ll put it this way: People tell us what they’re going to do, and then they do it,” Walsh said. “After that, there’s no excuse to be surprised.” As Trump spends his final days in office, some of his followers, bereft of his directions via Twitter, are unsure where to focus their energy, experts said. Some events planned in Washington and in state capitals have been canceled, partly out of fear that the events were actually organized by federal authorities as a “false flag” operation meant to trap Trump’s followers. The organizer of the “Million Militia March” appears to have abandoned an Inauguration Day demonstration in Washington, warning followers on his personal website to “STAY FAR AWAY FROM DC & ALL STATE CAPITALS . . . IT IS A TRAP.” Social media platforms and Web hosting services have removed accounts and chat apps that Trump supporters used to coordinate the Jan. 6 assault. But that also has made it harder for law enforcement officials to monitor those who might be planning violence. AD It’s a measure of Trump’s influence that the extremists are expressing frustration that they are left without clear guidance by any central figure about what to do and when and where to gather. But they are adapting. “What they’re now seeing is a fragmentation, a frustration among some of the followers because they don’t even have Trump giving instructions,” said one congressional aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive government intelligence, including warnings contained in a joint intelligence bulletin issued by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. It concluded that there is “a great degree of uncertainty” around the timing and location of potential attacks, even as the volume of online extremist chatter has increased significantly. The Anti-Defamation League said it has been tracking an uptick in calls for nationwide armed protests beginning Sunday. AD
When you make statements like, “People like you don’t know anything “, it does not lend credence to your argument. You are a smart guy. Use your sense to be persuasive rather than dismissive....... OK, let’s just say I don’t know anything. And fact is, I don’t. I am certainly not in any Uber-right group’s communication lines. Nor do I wish to be..... But let’s say that seventy, seven hundred or even seven thousand people show up to create chaos on Wednesday. We are still talking about a mere fraction of a fraction of Americans that voted for the man. Yet you guys are out there pumping this thing like it is the Super Bowl. It ain’t. At best I am confident you may see a few pickup trucks sporting Trump flags driving in the general vicinity. But you know what? Those few pickups will be the headline. Close-up photography will make it appear we are on the brink of civil war. And what I am learning here is that is exactly as the left wants it...... See, I already have some inside poop here. I read in my local paper that there was a massive pro-Trump rally taking place at the state house in my city. So I took myself a lunch break today to drive by the state house. There were three.... Count em... Three people with signs and red hats chatting pleasantly with the massive press in attendance...... You guys want to blow hard about this because it suits your agenda. I am convinced now that the left is doing all that they can to create false chaos. We will see on Wednesday just how correct that I am.
