I think the constitution does say that people born here are citizens... and does not specify that they have to have citizen parents... I'll bet hugo could elaborate for us.
I think it's a good idea too, but the 14th Amendment states that... Even if the 14th Amendment is one of the "reconstruction amendments" and is often argued to be questionable as to it's validity as it was ratified under the occupation and threat of the U.S. military occupation of states that were forced to vote for it's ratification and without the military threat probably wouldn't have been ratified, it is still a Constitutional Amendment until appealed by Amendment.
