I suggest selling your body to someone with horrible eyesight and no sense of smell... I'm assuming it hasn't rained there in a while so you probably haven't showered. Find Mr. Magoo or something and call him yo' daddy... he's loaded.
Nope. Trump did for a while... to promote his TV show I'd guess. Pailin' might soon... probably to promote her books and increase her speaking fees. Whether they do or don't shouldn't matter much though... you could always write their names in on the ballot. ...if either one were to enter the race (or in Trump's case, re-enter) would anyone here like that? Just curious lol
So, you would have me engage in prostitution before you would help me financially? Some bleeding-heart liberal you've turned out to be. You're just like the rest of 'em - all show and no go. Typical.
Ah, a bit of a slip up on your part...you stated in a different post that you use your tax refund as a savings account & pay bills. Now you tell us you give it away"? Which is it? Now, I'll ask again, where is the "shared sacrifice" when I give 35% of my income to the government and your true contribution is ZERO?
I think the "shared sacrifice" he's referring to is that you share your 35% with him. Liberals love "shared sacrifice".
No one should have a problem with "shared sacrifice". But what sacrifice is shared when some pay 35% and a good many pay ZERO? "Shared sacrifice" could have been a nationwide rally cry but BO used it to create class warfare & it's become a trite platitude, a bumper sticker for the uninformed.
Your problem is that you want everyone to be part of the collective, or "commune" if you will. Thereby, every individual contributes equally and thus shares the bounty equally. However, in a communist system, there's no reason for an individual to work even one minute longer than his neighbor due to the fact that he will receive no benefit from it. After all, why should an individual keep digging a ditch until sunrise? Or dig two ditches while his neighbor only digs one? There's no reason for him to create or try to better himself as he will only share equally in the outcome. It's not a healthy system and has been proven to fail. Just look back at the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or the paradise called Cuba.
Nooooooo! I was just talking about the meaning of shared sacrifice. It has nothing to do with "sharing the bounty" as far as I can tell. Let me give you an example. Let's say I want to go to school and apply for a government Pell grant. I am told that even though I'd probably qualify I can't have one because there have been cut backs and government Pell grants were discontinued. I then hear that big oil companies continue to receive large government subsidies even though they are the most profitable industry on the planet. Now I have sacrificed and paid more for tuition out of pocket because there isn't enough money to fund Pell grants anymore and I must sacrifice but big oil has been asked to sacrifice nothing in the same economic environment. Shared sacrifice would be both myself and big oil chipping in a little more of our out of pocket money to the system. I don't even know where this collective, commune, communist, blah, blah, blah, comes from.
You may want to make sure your colleagues on the left understand this because it seems BO's speech has been understood to mean my 35% tax rate will increases while their ZERO participation remains at ZERO..
That's no different than me calling City Hall and asking to have a street light installed to cut down on crime in the neighborhood, but being told that there have been cutbacks on street lighting. At the same time, Pell Grants have been increased for students. Well, share some of the sacrifice for my street light. I suppose it just matters what your pet project happens to be.
No, you're really not getting the concept of shared sacrifice. Shared sacrifice has less to do with anyone getting something and more to with everyone giving something. You seem to keep confusing giving with getting. Why is this so hard for you? In my Pell grant analogy, it wasn't the asking for the Pell grant that was the point it was the the having to fork out a little more out of pocket dough that was the point.
It's a half-truth... I wanted to (poof!) you off, and it worked! ...I did give it away... in the sense that I gave it to someone else so they could pay the mortgage or whatever they needed to. I don't use the money for frivolous stuff for myself. I rarely have ZERO taxes. The refunds I get are a substantial percentage of what I paid in taxes though. My shared sacrifice? Easy for you to ask when you are sitting pretty in the highest tax-bracket. You lose $100 it's not going to affect you in any way besides making you angry... I lose $100 and I'm deciding where I can cut expenses to make it to the next paycheck. Really though... How are you not getting this?
I grasp the concept. I don't agree with the concept. If the student wants to go to school and the money (given by the taxpayers) has already been appropriated to other students, he can work part-time. If I want a street light and the money (again, given by the taxpayers) is not there, I can put some more light bulbs around my lawn or it can stay dark. I'm not going to ask the taxpayers to give more to Pell Grants and also ask the taxpayers (that's me, you and everyone else) to give more for street lights in my neighborhood. I've shared... and shared... and shared sacrifices till I'm blue in the face. Enough with the shared sacrifice! Now, if taxes that should be used for Pell Grants and street lights are misappropriated or otherwise illegally drained, then the parties involved should be held responsible. Is the money going to the oil companies being illegally transferred to them? Or is it being done legally? If it's illegal, you need to blow the whistle on it. If it's legal, well, you need to work to change the system if you don't like it. Good luck.
It's still early, so I'm not committed to a candidate yet. I'm still listening to what they have to say. I like Cain, though. Did you know that he has a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Chemistry? He was a ballistics analyst for the Navy and completed a Master's Degree in Computer Science. He's gone on to lead several companies - most recently Godfather's Pizza - and has chaired the National Restaurant Association and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. In addition, he's an author and a radio host. Pretty impressive credentials indeed. I'll be looking closer at this guy.
